Continuity of Play

I've a question about continuity of play. I play predominantly BJ at 32Red. I noticed that when I re-log in after a session, it appears to continue from the last hand.
My question: Am I continuing from where I left off or is it a new virtual shoe? Can I technically break a bad run or do I have to move to a different game?

How can you tell that your game continues from the last hand?

Anyway the "deck" is re-shuffled after each hand, and I really don't think that a bad run at online BJ has to do with the "virtual shoe" you're mentioning.

For me, I think that both your hand and the dealer's hand are pre-determined before the cards are dealt... Just my humble opinion....

2. results predetermined before the cards are dealt? that is scary!

I'm wondering how the random generator works. Is there one for every game or is there a master? If one for every game/table, then does it continue to run even when I've exited the table, i.e. virtually continues to shuffle the cards, OR, does it stop the moment I leave?

1. Why is this a problem?
2. The correct statement would be that the order of the cards may be predetermined (just like in a real casino). It really does not matter whether the whole deck is shuffled or a new card is selected at random from the remaining cards.

You know how in B&M joints when the dealer's really hot or if the run is strangely bad, you'd want to take a walk, either change table or let the remaining players finish the shoe, or get the dealer to shuffle, etc.

I'm wondering if it works the same way. Allow me to restate my ignorance in online games.

Q1. at online games, are the cards predetermined? i.e. once the shoe starts, the shoe is not meddled with. i.e. one can apply card count method? Additionally, if I leave the game and come back in a day or two, is this 'predetermined' order retained (i.e. the remaining shoe remains)? If the answer to this is 'yes', then how do I get a fresh shoe? Play a different BJ game?

Q2. if it is not predetermined and each hand is almost drawing cards from a fresh shoe, the 'random-ness' is based on each table or is there a master random generator. i.e. if I have a bad run, can I leave the table and hope to break the bad run?

No, for most online casinos, the deck is reshuffled before you're dealt a new hand. Even though your last hand's cards are still there if you log back in (in Microgaming casinos), you'll go under a reshuffle the second you hit deal and before you get dealt a new hand.

I believe that it doesn't matter if you leave the table, go to a new table, try a different version of BJ, cross your fingers and eyes, spit over your shoulder while humming "I Believe" ... well, you get the picture.

However, I'm sure others believe differently from me.

In the vast majority of online blackjack games, the deck(s) are shuffled following every hand, making card counting as close to irrelevant as it can be. AFAIK, Cryptologic is the only software provider that gives any deck penetration at all (in their multi-player BJ games), but if you leave a multi-player game during the hand, you are sent to a single player table to complete the interrupted game before being allowed to continue playing anything else.

As far as leaving the table goes; in over a decade of dealing blackjack in land-based casinos, any time someone enters or leaves the game, hits or stands when they should do otherwise, or plays an extra box to 'change things up', what 'would have happened' in the future can never be correctly calculated and serves to provide more arguments than answers. The best advice is to always leave the table when it doesn't 'feel right'. You'll never know if things would have been better or worse, but you'll have made your own decision.

Each hand in bj is generated seperately at random. The RNG has no knowledge of preveous hand or future hands. Nothing you do - staying, leaving, crossing your fingers, etc. - will affect the RNG. But sure, you can still hope
