    very nervous

I recently read a thread posted here about the sketchy casino business in Costa Rica. Well i have played at Golden Palace before and their sister Online Casino. For both it is required to send in ID such as a driver's lisence. Even though it was a big win there, i really regret having sent scans of that information.

    Relax

I guarantee you that other than their lousy way of advertising they are good people.

Nice operation and honest with their customers.

Also, they are not located in Costa Rica. Their casino is a Playtech casino and Costa Rica only has 2 casinos running by that software.

Don't let that article scare you. Is realistic, scams are all around, not only in online gambling. However rememember there are over 1500 websites were you can gamble. Not all of them are as the ones mentioned there. All you have to do is be careful and research. Also avoid using your credit card and use Neteller to make sure you won't have any problems with your information.

Not necessarily true. I deposited to a reputable RTG by Neteller, but still had to send in ID to get my withdrawal.

I wonder if the OP is getting Golden Palace confused with Crystal Palace - and easy mistake.

My advice is avoid ALL Playtechs & RTG's unless approved by CasinoMeister

    True

Maybe for a large withdrawal or any withdrawal they might ask for id.

However most companies won´t ask for the id unless you have use a credit card.

Also if they are a good business and want to verify your legal age they might do it.

If a company starts requesting documents with no credit card transactions or no reason careful, they might just want to delay your payment or want you to keep your funds in the account for you to play them

Quite a few casinos do require id scans even for Neteller regardless of wdw size.

If they were good businesses and just wanted to verify your age, then they would do that BEFORE you start playing.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I think another question that follows up with this, is How long does the information you give them, eg ID, address and such stay on their databases? Does it stay on forever?

    Forever

Casinos, books and poker rooms will never destroy customer information.

Their data bases are as important as their systems. They use info to contact old customers, new customers, friends of customers, etc.

Credit card info is always kept on file. A good company will keep everything scanned on their servers or at least keep them on paper.

That is pretty scary. What measures are taken to have these documents secured? There should be some standards for record keeping. So even if I choose to close down an account and politely ask for them to remove all my information, it will still be retained on their databases?

    Cause for Concern

I think standards are lacking - there have been many occasions where I have had to send documents that I know I have sent before, but have been told they are not on file when I protest. I wonder how such things get mislaid so easily if they are so important.
One thing that might be of interest is that when casinos are sold on, the details are included with the sale. I have found out this as my accounts at Aztec Riches and Phoenician have been taken over by Casino Rewards. I am now an "elite VIP", and this certainly has nothing to do with my play at Casino Rewards, but everything to do with what came with their purchase of these two casinos.
