What are your favorite slots... and why?

Hello fellow forum members,

Since it's generally quiet here at Casinomeister.com on the weekends (actually, I have WAY too much time on my hands today), I was curious what many would consider to be the best slots to play (bonus screen slots). Following on the heels of Simmo's (and Casinomeister's) very own Slotjunkies.info (and his review on the games being used in the tournament), as well as a previous thread started by "wayram" (member), I thought it would be interesting to hear a detailed list of your favorite slots, and if so... why? Sounds like homework, but if you have time, I'd love to hear your responses.

Here's what I would consider to be my Top-10 Favorite Slots.

#1 Tomb Raider (MG)

This is easily my favorite game, and I've had my biggest payoffs come from this game. I've never gotten tired of it. I can understand why others may be turned-off by the fact that there's only 10 free spins as compared to Thunderstruck's 15 (notably mentioned in Simmo's slot review), but for me, I've found that Tombraider generally shows me a higher return despite fewer spins. I also "like" the Tomb Bonus, because it helps keep you in the game. It's not a big payoff, but it can buy you just enough time before hitting 3,4, or 5 scatters. All-in-all, my favorite.

#2 Aztec Treasure (RTG)

I already talked about my liking of this game in a recent thread (I believe "wayram's"), but I'll say it again. IF my recent luck with this game wasn't so sour (I quit BoDog & CasinoExtreme because of pulling-out too much hair over RTG slots and my e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d losing sessions at them), I might even take this one over Tomb Raider. Why? I find that the Free Spins sessions generally payoff the most (IF and WHEN I'm not cursed). Now, you only get 5 spins, BUT, I find that it's not too difficult getting more Aztec scatters to extend the free spin sessions. And unlike the MG sessions, I almost NEVER go through my spins without a decent hit. Another plus that I should have mentioned before, is the Aztec King icons that drop down on reels 2,3, and 4. Unlike other slot games, they can drop down in 3 per column on 3 seperate reels (as many as 9 on screen... though, this is VERY unlikely).

#3 Thunderstruck (MG)

This was my favorite at one time, but I just don't get as excited as I used to whenever I see the scatter Rams come up, as I would when I'm playing either Tomb Raider or Aztec Treasure. Historically, I've had pretty good luck on this game. It seems that whenever I'm down to my last $2 in credit, I switch to this game, and get 3 Rams. Almost ALWAYS! As far as I know, this game DOES have the greatest payout for that kind of a slot, and the ultimate dream is to one day get 5 Thor's lined-up in a free spin feature on a $45 spin.

Sidenote: Marvel Games are over at Cryptologic, so how do they feel about one of their very own AVENGERS (not affiliated with Mrs. Peel and I) flirting with another software provider? I'm beginning to wonder if Fantastic Four will show-up as a PlayTech slot, and Spider-Man as an RTG one (and Power-Man & Iron Fist as a lowly G-Fed slot....eeewww).

#4 Bejeweled (Cryptologic)

This game is VERY addictive. It reminds me of Tetris when it first came out about 18 years ago. But, it's for money (well, Arcade games cost money, but you can't win anything on them either). I've been doing well on this game as well. Actually, I wanted to put it at #2 on my list, but it's too soon yet. Thus far though, I love this game (it's the best to play).

#5 Chinese Kitchen (PlayTech)

Yes, this is a PlayTech slot, but in my mind, it's different, refreshing, and forgiving. I can play this game for long-stretches (which I do), and I generally do well (profit-wise). There's not much to it (it's like Boggle for slots), but it's cooky enough to have won me over. And I find that the bigger wins aren't that rare to get (3 Ducks, Frogs, Snails, and Crabs), and I've even managed to get 3 Turtles a few times!!

#6 What on Earth (MG)

For me, this game is great because it always keeps you in the game. Hence, lots of little wins. Nice to see that there are 3 different types of scatters. A classic.

#7 Spring Break (MG)

I was going to leave this game off the list, but recently, I've had to think back on all the times I've played this game. I don't win, and I don't lose. That's how I would sum-it-up. Historically, I have VERY bad luck getting the Free Spins out of this game, thus I've never been overly excited about this game. But, having said that, I still think it's a wonderful game, and if I think about it, I might actually be up $5 since the first time I started playing it (hahaha).

#8 Ronin (RTG)

You could substitute this vote with either Cleopatra's Gold or Caesar's Empire. I know many people think this is the best RTG slot to play, but it certainly is a bitch to activate the free spins (1 Koku and 2 Ronin's). It's like playing the actual game with it's own set of T & C's, yeesh (better yet, it's like having to sneak your way into a U.S. missile silo, and then simultaneously turning 2-keys to activate the launch while under constant gunfire... IOW, fun if you can do it). But... I do like this game (it's hard to tell isn't it).

#9 Hulk (Cryptologic)

Well, I did come out ahead on this game yesterday, so I'm feeling pretty good about it in-the-now. Out of the Marvel Games* over at Cryptologic (software) casinos, this is the only one I find that gives you enough small wins along the way. I find the layout to be the best of the bunch as well. That bonus feature... is... interesting. Well, at least it's different (I favor nailing the tank over the helicopter). It would have been a nice touch to hear the Hulk botch-up the Engish Language during spins though (no adjectives, articles, prepositions... only simple nouns and verbs). Hulk... SMASH!!!

#10 Vacation Station (PlayTech)

While there's truly not much difference between this game and the politically incorrect "Chinese Kitchen", I've had better sessions on "Chinese Kitchen". But... I've done well here too. If this game has a plus over it's Asian neighbor, it's that it's highest payout is 4 times greater (3 Jumbo Jets = 4,000). I think the best feature to this game (and it's small), is the "Scatter Pay" (luggage bag). Generally, in most slot games, there are always those darned icons that are forever useless and get in the way (and screw-up your wins.... ggggrrrhhh). In this game, that's the Scatter Pay, BUT, you frequently win off of these (so it's good crap). A forgiving game.



My take on the Marvel Games* is this, as a whole, they murder your bankroll. As I said, I did well on Hulk, and methinks it's the best of the bunch. The layout of these games look pretty good, but getting the bonuses (free spins, features, ect...) takes forever. Not once in all the Marvel Games that I played, was I able to hit any bonus feature in under 150 spins (out of around 12 sessions). That's not good at all.

And on top of that, UNLESS you reach the bonus rounds, your credit will vanish before your very eyes. I know that MG slots can be downright awful on bad days, but believe it or not, they're FAR more forgiving than these slots. A shame too, I love Marvel Comics, and it's a neat idea, but whenever you do get small wins, it generally doesn't even cover the cost of 1 spin. Ouch!

Since these games are still new, I hope that those who work at Cryptologic (Waterlogic) as well as the casino operators will be wise enough to recognize (for this game to have long-term appeal) that they should make a couple of key alterations, that would allow the player to win a little more during the regular sessions. I think people will lose interest in these games quickly, and likely head back to MG slots (the die-hards). They need a little more balance in these games (IMHO, it's WAY too lopsided now). These games COULD and SHOULD be great.

Ok excellent thread to start a Sunday with

1. Thunderstruck
Always been my fave since day 1 and i'd say 90% of my play is on this one. Demands a strategy and can be very frustrating, but when its on a roll, there's no feeling like it. I have a theory that this appeals because i used to play a lot of Quake and Unreal and the whole Thunderstruck experience has a similar'ish quality about it. Its clearly weighted - you dont play a million or more spins and never hit 5 scatters or 5 thors like i have - but its still the pick of the bunch.

2. Bejeweled
Probably largely because its new, but its just different and it keeps you in the game. I never thought I'd see the day when Crypto made a slot (if you can call it a slot!) i wanted to play, but over the last 3-4 months, i've totally changed my opinion. Also (at last) Crypto's new software gives you a game overview on mouseover...that always stopped me playing there...couldn't be arsed to download a slot just to see what features it had.

3. What On Earth
Keeps you interested and certainly makes your bankroll last. One you can generally afford to bet bigger on. Great bonus feature too. Slightly annoying that the scatters have to be adjacent to each other, but still fun.

4. Golden Goose Totem Treasure
Actualy, this one is slipping down my list fast. I loved it when it came out and it was responsible for my biggest ever win ($17.5k) but it has gone very cold on me recently and its a slot that when it goes cold, boy does it go cold. The thing about this over the other Goose slots is that it has 3 very rewarding payouts (5 scatters, 5 wilds and 5 eagles) where the others reward less and while they keep you going longer, don't give me the same adrenaline rush.

6. Around The World
Another crypto slot with loads of paylines. The thing i like about this one is the left-to-right AND right-to-left approach. Annoying scatters to hit the bonus round (and rarely do they drop in my experience) but a bonus round with a bit of skill for a change.

7. Ladies Nite
I rarely play this as T'Struck always calls me back, but it's a worthwhile alternative when T'Struck is playing tight. An identical slot bar symbols and sounds pretty much.

8. Mermaids Millions
Pretty identical to Tomb Raider but the sounds are what makes this nice for me. I'm not a 15-payline fan to be honest but I do occassionally dabble on this one. Very relaxing

I don't really play any others but those i have dabbled with that are "ok" would include Tomb Raider, the new X-Men Marvel game on Crypto, Spring Break (though i hate the symbols - well tacky), King Cashalot (An MG Progressive with a bonus round at last! Yay!) and the Rapid Fire's on Crypto are ok too.

Well, I'll have to try this game soon. I hadn't realized that it was similar to Tomb Raider (good to alternate games when it gets cold).

I never thought I'd see the day when Crypto made a slot (if you can call it a slot!) i wanted to play, but over the last 3-4 months, i've totally changed my opinion. Also (at last) Crypto's new software gives you a game overview on mouseover...that always stopped me playing there...couldn't be arsed to download a slot just to see what features it had..

I opened a new account at Littewoods casino yesterday, just to put those Marvel Games to the test. I had stopped going to Crypto's a while back (lousy BJ sessions... scary more like it), but Bejeweled and Hulk are enough to keep me coming back. I'm with you, at least they're coming up with better stuff.

Is it just me, or is What On Earth not available on Flash Downloads?

Sidenote II: I noticed that First Web Casino is still using the old Flash Version. IOW, no Thunderstruck, no Tomb Raider, ect...

Okey dokey, not sure if I can come up with ten, but I'll do my best, lol.

1. Thunderstruck

Since day one, this is and probably always will be my favourite game. Like Simmo said, when it's hitting, there's nothing like it, and the majority of my larger wins have come on it. Unfortunately, it's been colder than ice of late, but I'm finding that with all the Video Slots lately. And again like Simmo, I would say that 80-90% of my play is on this slot.

2. Spring Break

Took me a long time to warm up to this slot when it first came out, I lost and lost and lost. But like the little engine that could, I kept on going, and have had some very nice wins on it. Not the least of which was five scatters during free spins for $1350 (at 32Red no less).

3. Skullduggery

I absolutely love the graphics of this game, which is probably what keeps me coming back. I always seem to maintain, although I can't say I've ever won a huge amount on it.

4. Golden Goose Totem Treasure

I don't care for the other GG games at all, but I love this one. Again, like Simmo, I have found that it has gone ice cold since its release. I have won some very tidy amounts....$2,000, $1,000 and 400 or 500 on numerous occasions. My biggest thrill was getting five scatters once, of course being the low bettor that I am, I think I may have only been playing $1.25 and I got $800 or something like that. Again, there is something with the graphics to this slot that keep me hooked.

5. Cash Clams

Every once in a while, I get the urge to play something different from video slots, and I absolutely love this game, and I always do well on it. I find if I am playing on a bonus especially, it makes it much easier to meet wagering requirements playing this slot. I set it to 50 cents, and I find I can spin forever, and maintain my balance very well. Have also had some very nice hits....the 7's with two wilds for $400 a couple of times. Just love those little purple clams, lol.

6. Good To Go

I know that most people really dislike this game, but I have had amazing luck on it, well up until yesterday, lol. It let me down large while playing my bonus at 32Red. Unlike Secret Admirer, I usually hit the free spins multiple times, and on many occasions have gotten the five speedometers/tachometers?? Think I may give this one a rest though, after yesterday's outing.

7. Witches Wealth

Not too many of the new games recently released have caught my attention, but I do like this one alot. Lots of bonus rounds, with a very good payout for me. I shouldn't say that as it will probably dry up on me now also.

8. Adventure Palace

Absolutely love, love, love the graphics in this game. Same concept as Thunderstruck, Spring Break, etc. but exclusive to Lake Palace Casino and Roadhouse Reels. When RR launched I got the $15 n/d bonus plus a $25 signature invitation and played this game almost exclusively. Got up to a nice tidy sum, but of course stupidly did not cashout (hitting self in head and pulling fingernails). Just love when you get those five tigers in a nice neat row, lol.

That's about it for me I guess, although once in a blue moon, I will give Jungle Jim and Reel Strike a go. Not many bonus rounds, but I seem to do well when I get them.

I was betting big that night, 90 cents a spin, lol. Oh how I wish I'd been betting at least $2.25. I meant to add to my post above that the reason I like the video slots so much is the ability to play 9 cents or 18 cents a spin, and the possibility for a large payoff is always there. I am a definite low-roller, I love looking at some of the screenshots when people are betting 4 and 5 dollars a spin, and some of the payoffs. Just goes to prove that old saying, you gotta bet big to win big, lol.

I find the free spins to be very sporadic - but I've had some very good luck at Springbreak and Ladies Nite which encourages me to continue playing these games. Simmo! and Spearmaster can attect to this once they check out their affiliate accounts this month at Maple Casino and Musichall

A couple of inclusions:

Bush Telegraph has been good to me recently. And I discovered this quite by accident by clicking the link to the game mistakenly.

Sun Quest This is a pre-viper slot that I always liked. It was once exclusive to Sun Vegas but has been added to a number of other casinos. No bonus rounds, but the payouts can be very lucrative. Warning: when it goes dry - it really goes dry.

Playtech's Chinese Kitchen is a new fav of mine. As mentioned somewhere above, one's bankroll can last for a while on this one (seemingly so).

Crypto's Bejeweled is very cool. I like their new Marvel slots. But like Johnsteed mentioned, the bonus rounds don't come as often as they should.

Side note, I wish that MG would make an option for players to be able to play the "coin value" slots (all of the new slots) either as "coin" or "cash". I find it annoying to think of math problems while playing the slots (how much $$ is 350 coins, etc.). This is an option at most land based slot machines. I am not a math head - never claimed to be. I guess I should be the one to suggest this to them.
