I can't see any picture at all - just HOW small is it?

If you mean your avatar, they are limited to quite a small size. (At least, I think that for newbies they are, senior members seem to be allowed to have bigger ones). Also, if you're uploading an image and it's in a memory-rich format (e.g. BMAP instead of JPEG), the forum will automatically reduce it (I think!) to 195 kb.
