    Hello & power advice

    Hi all,

I am here because a couple of friends of mine play poker online and have suggested that I join them, but I have no clue about Poker. Really what I am searching for is a place where I can play, maybe against computer first (is there such a thing) and then in fun games. Do they exist? Or is it all real money betting?

Other than that, me? 30 something guy, works from home with computers, 2 kids, dad is mad about horse racing, but tipped the wrong horses in the National this year

Cheers! let me know if you know a good place for me to learn poker.

EDIT: Lol, I meant Poker advice not power advice.......

All good poker sites have tutorial pages to teach you the rules & terminology, and they also all have "Play Money" tables which work the same as the real money tables... but, and this is a big BUT, playing these tables will get you familiar with how it works, how to place bets etc... but they wont help you learn how to actually PLAY poker properly.
This is because with "fun money" people play totally differently to how they would play with real money. It doesn't matter if they win or lose, so people will go all in with totally crap hands and do other daft stuff.

My suggestion is find a reputable poker site (CM lists some) and play in a few "Sit & Go" single table tournaments for real money. These start from just a few $ so you can learn how play properly without risking a fortune.

A word of warning; poker is very addictive and extremely hard to be consistently successful at; please only play with time & money you can fully afford to lose.

Also find the best deal available for the room of choice, the best offers are of course offered "under the table". Thats usually overlooked by many newbies.

yeah, good advice! I just want to be a casual player, if I like it, playing a few games with friends. Not really interesting in gambling lots with it. Unless I turn out to be a natural.....
