Inappropriate behavior warning - Casinomeister's Online Casino and Poker Forum

Thought I would post this here since this has to do with the forum as a whole: after my return of being gone for a week (the moderators were absent as well), I found that a few members had a lapse of good judgement - two of whom were suspended or banned (Lojo - 90 days, and tim5ny - permanent ban).

Lojo's offence - telling members to "shut the fuck up" on two accounts, and he has had his account suspended three times in the past for similar offences. Tim5ny - for his misogynistic and garbage thread about oral sex, and his comment "She's just someone's whore.. like most bitches!" Tim has been banned twice for racist or misogynistic comments in the past.

No one has the right to tell anyone here to shut the fuck up - and I shouldn't have to say what is wrong with Tim's comments.

What is alarming to me, is that there was not a general outcry. Only a couple of members came to me pointing out their concern - as you know, it's impossible for me to read every posting; I rely on members to police their own behavior and ensure that their peers are not behaving badly.

There are a number of members who are in lurk mode because of some of these incidents, which is alarming as well. I am not merely alarmed that they are not posting, what is disappointing is that they are not claiming their forum back.

I don't control who posts and what is posted. My job is to ensure that the forum is functioning and that it is well organized. I am also committed to making this a place welcome to all - but most of that responsibility falls into your hands. It is a member's board - and it is you who is charged with providing relevant and thought provoking discussions. And it is you who is charged with ensuring that the environment here is relaxed, enjoyable and/or conductive to serious undertakings (as in the complaint sections).

For those of you that may find other members annoying - don't forget you have an ignore button. Check your User CP and use this. And for those of you who find a posting offensive, please click the "report this post" and alert us (the moderators) to problematic posts/threads. We are counting on you.

If you are one of the lurkers, please jump in and get involved. I have some very cool and unprecedented things planned for this forum in the upcoming weeks. You won't be disappointed.

It is pity this had to happen. It is always sad to see people behaving in such a manner. But I guess it boils down to one thing. If you do not have any self respect, you probably will show no respect to others at some stage.

I have been a lurker for some time now, because settling a new business takes allot of time and effort. But one reason I always come back is the company. One of the key factors that makes Casinomeister stand out is the fact that you can have your say, anyway you like it in a relaxed and mature environment. It is good to see that it stays the way it is.

I will miss Tim. I understand having to keep a little order or things will get out of hand. I will miss Tim, he made me laugh

......i will miss tim also and i feel the blame for lojo being banned for 90 days as i was one of the peeps he told to stfu which he did say he was sorry for in his own lojo way. i did not report it as i felt it was not intended at me by him personally but by maybe some heavy duty partying on his part. i think the worst word you can say to someone is to shut up as this makes one feel belittled and we all have feelings that can be hurt with just a few words. lojo is a great poster prolly one of the best on here and he has a good heart, i hope he will come back like the old lojo with great posts and standing up for the ones that need his advice...................laurie

The thing is, you can't just go and post whatever you like and then the next day blame it on the booze. "Shut the fuck up" - whether it's an acronym or not - is way out of line. I don't care how good a poster is, that is abusing other members and is uncalled for. Lojo has been given his share of warnings and admonishments. If a member feels they need to abuse others or act obnoxious, then there are consequences. I cannot permit members to behave badly.

Tim, nice guy that I'm sure he is, has crossed that border several times. It's a shame, but if you want a forum where people can refer to the women membership as "bitches" and "whores" - well, I just have to say that you won't find it at Casinomeister.

It's not like these guys were not warned.

Thank you for that..I run in to that enough when I play poker online...there are a lot of "men" (sorry to say that) that can't stand being beat by a woman and think they have to resort to inappropriate language to make themselves feel better.

I do have to say this.
When the words "bitches" and "whores" are used I have to say it's Low Repect.Would anyone here like anyone to call your wife this "NO" But we all have our days.
In 22 years I never called my own wife a B and that's even if I was drunk too.
I do wish you would give Tim one more and only one more chance and that's it.
We all learn by our mistakes.

Those guys make me laugh too, and I will admit, I didn't read those comments, but whenever I see something like that it does make me a bit uneasy

What I am really in awe of is the ethics this board is run on. Not only with this situation (and others like it) but in general.

When a casino has done wrong, you take them to task, but when someone comes here and bashes them for personal reasons, you defend them equally. That is awesome. I have enjoyed my time here, and can't wait for the new & exciting things to come!
