Have to be carefull with these google searches. I once saw a site that said the highest low hand is 8-7-6-5-4! lol, I checked it still there ranking top 10!

The best low hand is A-2-3-4-5. The ranking is determined by the highest card, if they are the same, the next highest etc. In other words, 7-5-3-2-A beats a 7-6-3-2-A. Does that make sense?

You need to be VERY disciplined at this poker variation. The thing is if you are not you will be destroyed! You should only play specific hands and that is it, nothing else matters. Remember the pot is split between high and low so and again it can be split from there. This in effect means that you can put more into a pot than you win at the end!

The best starting hand is A-A-2-3 suited. Meaning that the A-2 suited and A-3 is suited.

To win the low hand you need to have low cards A-2-3 maybe 4, two of these in your hand. You also need to realise that to win high a pair is useless. You need to have a potential, straight, flush in your hand. The best is to win both High and low. I play love to play if I have A-2-K in hand. If it is suited, I'll go all-in!

I know that the Prima software's help file is fairly comprehensive, perhaps if you like you can read up there more information!

    Very well explained, Mr Chatmaster!
Hopefully more & more people will try it and realise that Omaha Hi/Lo is a much more skillfull & exciting game than the 'random lottery' of hold'em, and I will have more people to play with!

No way, my friend. If it were, there'd be more bigger limit action. Of course, I'm talking fixed limit.

    Thanks, KK

Yes, In Omaha, you know when you've won and when you have no chance! Their is allot less luck involved in it than with Omaha. Either you play by the rules or you make someone else rich, your choice and that is where the main skill lies! Discipline!

    Thumbs up

    Thank you very much Chatmaster!

I'm very interested in Omaha H/L. I got a royal flush in Pacific Poker yesterday, but only 50$ bonus.

I knew the best low hand is A-2-3-4-5, some site or poker room considered as 2-3-4-5-A, and the A is the best low and high card

    But I'm also confused that
if A has 76532, B has 7654A, who will win?

Would you please send me your MSN address? Hope to have lessons

A wins...as said before, you start at the highest card and work down

    1st: A) 7 B) 7
    2nd: A) 6 B) 6
    3rd: A) 5 B) 5
4th: A) 3 B) 4 <- that's the winner there (A), no need to go any further with the hand.

I guess I am confused. This is the highest low hand right? You have to have an 8 or better and 8-7-6-5-3 beats this but you cant have a 9-x-x-x-x because it would not qualify. The only game straights dont count as low is 2-7 draw as far as I know except for home game variations.

I love Omaha8, when a player is bad in omaha8 they are REALLY bad. Its not just a fish in holdem that can say it was suited, in omaha8 you get people who call raises with hands that have no chance of winning high or low. It is also a great game for clearing bonuses as it creates a lot of raked hands. Another high low game to check out is 7stud8.
