Tokwiro agreed not to prosecute the perpetrator in the Absolute Poker cheating, and to protect that individual’s identity, because this was the only way to ensure that the ability to cheat was fully discovered and disabled. Because of this decision, AP could continue operating and begin to reimburse affected players as quickly as possible.
I think they're blowing smoke... a lot of words that don't mean doodoo to me. Maybe the turkey and dressing has caused my brain cells to shut down. LOL

Why protect the 'individual' (I think there were more than one responsible)? I don't understand.

I also think that more than one 'individual' was responsible for the UB scam, too.

At any rate, I'm quite interested in seeing what 60 Minutes does with this.

It would be really great if one - or more - of our Casinomeister members in the United States could watch the Sixty Minutes program on Sunday and then as soon as possible thereafter post or start a discussion thread giving their opinion/s on it.

That would be a refreshing change from media coverage - a real player's perception of how well the program covered this dubious milestone in the industry's history and what came out in the wash.

I will do my best. For those wanting to watch this there is no way it will be on at 7pm ET though. Every market in the U.S. except for San Diego (and they don't get 60 Minutes after football anyway cause of their time zone) gets a late NFL game on CBS that starts at 4:15pm ET. That will make this more of a 7:30pm ET or so start for 60 Minutes as they will almost certainly not start it until all late games are finished.

That is from the article linked above. Canada doesn't have any laws like that do they?

Yeah - I bridled at that too. The preview publicity from Sixty Minutes makes the same sweeping and erroneous statement.

There's neen a lot of critical comment on the Sixty Minutes advance blurb already.

Shows you how well the enforcement agencies have misinformed the media...and probably the public at large, too.

Sympathetic interview with Cereus COO Paul Leggett here:

Note especially reference to Korean software developer.

The original AP platform was built by a Korean Team. Nothing new or interesting with that..

Well it's news to me - I was under the impression the software came from Excapsa when Jim Ryan was still running that company.

Certainly Excapsa has accepted responsibility for the flaws by coughing up $15 million last month.

So which Korean developer was it?

When I propped for them they bought their software company in Korea. It was probably 2003 or maybe early 2004. The joke was why would they want to buy a company that put out such a bad product because the original product was one of the worst things ever to hit online poker. I guess later we found out why.
