    Change of pace for Prima

    Prima just recently added a $250 7Stud freeroll.

    While it's not much, it's great to sit in on if you're bored...nice change.

    It's held nightly(?) at 10:30PM EST.

    I'm hoping this is just a trial and they'll increase the prize pool in time, as it's getting a better turnout each night. At first it was max 1000 players...they maxed out for a few days, then they increased it to 5000. Now they're getting ~3000 players.

    I played in tonight's for the first time, and I enjoyed it. The only thing they need to do is make the prize structure better than:

    1st = $45
    2nd = $22.50
    3rd = $15
    4th = $12.50
    5th = $10
    6th = $7.50
    7th = $5
    8th = $3.75
    9th = $3
    10th = $2.25
    11 through 20 = $1.50
    21 through 30 = $1.00
    31 through 40 = $0.75
    41 through 50 = $0.67
    51 through 60 = $0.62
    61 through 70 = $0.55
    71 through 90 = $0.37
    91 through 110 = $0.35
    111 through 130 = $0.32
    131 through 170 = $0.30
    171 through 210 = $0.27
    211 through 300 = $0.15
    301 through 600 = $0.05

    The prizes for places 31 through 600 are somewhat insulting. They are worthless individually, yet they add up to just over $100 that could be put to better use on the top prizes, especially since the prize pool is already so small. I think they should eliminate the last 570 places. Personally I would rather walk away with nothing than with 5 cents.

    Actually anything under 70th is. You can at least sit down at a .02/.05 PL/NL/L table with .55

    They need to start running some micro buy-in tourneys like a few other places do. Maybe that's what they're working on?

    Too bad I didn't get a SS: (8/16K blinds)

    > sir_winalot wins 195,180 with a Royal Flush, Diamonds

    edit: Took 10th, can't complain...got too many bring-ins when blinds were 20/40K and couldn't hit a thing. Time to grind at the low levels

    This has to be the worst payout structure I've ever seen. On top of that you can actually win less then the tournament has in overlay if you place. The pool should certainly only pay the top few as much of those winnings can never be played with anyway or maybe that is the point.

    yea. I'm hoping they're going to raise the pool at least. If not, then add micro-tourneys. I think they'd definately increase their customer base by doing this.

    Guys,

    I found that freeroll 7-card stud today and gave it a go - but ...
    It's actually a pretty boring game isn't it?

    The hands tend to last a lot longer than hold-em - and there seems to be a lot less variation in the play when you can see that you're plainly beaten.

    I'd not really be queing up to play it again - and I can see why hold-em is sweeping the tables if that's the best alternative ...

    Or am I missing something about 7-card stud?
    Do you need to play it after a few beers (or ahem ... other substances?)

    If you ask me, it's more of a thinking mans game as opposed to hold'em, which can be pretty monotonous at times.

    After propping holdem for so long I became a stud player. I only play it high/low and omaha h/l is another game I play now. Holdem just got to be too boring.

    It appears that this is a direct result of us using a % sliding scale for they payouts (places paid being a % of players entered). As these events appear to be very popular, this has resulted in the lower placed players winning a very small amount.

    The revised fixed-payout structure (below) is now being implemented

    1 $40.00
    2 $35.00
    3 $28.00
    4 $24.00
    5 $18.00
    6 $15.00
    7 $12.00
    8 $10.00
    9 $8.00
    10 $5.00
    11 $3.00
    12 $3.00
    13 $3.00
    14 $3.00
    15 $3.00
    16 $3.00
    17 $3.00
    18 $3.00
    19 $3.00
    20 $3.00
    21 $1.50
    22 $1.50
    23 $1.50
    24 $1.50
    25 $1.50
    26 $1.50
    27 $1.50
    28 $1.50
    29 $1.50
    30 $1.50
    31 $1.00
    32 $1.00
    33 $1.00
    34 $1.00
    35 $1.00
    36 $1.00
    37 $1.00
    38 $1.00
    39 $1.00
    40 $1.00
    total $250.00
