Players Palace Casino (Casino Share) - Direct Connection to SPAM

    Hi All,

For a while now I've been receiving mailers from c-f-1.com.

Casino Share along with their other casino properties have been using this to send out their mailers.

Today I received one from Players Palace Casino. It had my Name and casino account attached.

However immediately following that email I received another one from c-f-1.com BUT this was SPAM.

I'm going to post everything I have so far on this including all headers.
My email program highlights possible phishing URL hence the true email URL are shown in some of these emails:

Going back to my 1'st post...the RTG SPAM came from the same IP and the same domain c-f-1.com that CasinoShare group uses to send out their mailers.

The rest is pretty damn obvious that CasinoShare group is using their player database to send SPAM to. Not impressed!

    Cheers

    Pretty damning really.

The company behind c-f-1.com will forward email for ANYBODY. Playshare have presumably given them the contract to send out the promos, and will have passed them your email address. c-f-1.com ALSO take work from spammers, and will quite happily send SPAM, as well as legitimate marketing mail. HOW CAN WE TRUST c-f-1.com to "ring fence" their LEGITIMATE mailing business from their "spamming" arm; i.e. that valid email addressess supplied in good faith by casinos for sending out promos are not added to their "other" mailing list, the one for the mass spammings. We CANNOT take the casino's word for it, since they would not know. The only possible redress might be a privacy complaint, since these web addresses all point to UK company addresses.

I followed the link to unsubscribe from the Clubworld email I received and it ends up at a company called NetAtlantic, an email marketing firm. Also the email I received was inviting me to play at Clubworld as if I wasn't already a customer, which I am.

What upsets me is my details have been given to a company that is a known spammer, when I'm (like other CS members) are given the impression that our personal details with NOT be disclosed/shared with another 3'rd party.

Although I can understand the issues gaming establishments are faced with when sending out mail to legit sources these days, it's the members privacy that should always be held in trust.

What surprises me time & time again is the lack of research taken by some gaming venues in finding a trustworthy mailing operation to deliver their mailers.

Granted everyone can make a mistake and accidents happen. However in my opinion this could have been avoided if the integrity of c-f-1.com was scrutinised by CS.

Therefore I can be fairly confident that (CS members details) have been given to a known spamming operation, who in turn are using this data to spam. Worse though, who is to say our details are also not being sold on

Unfortunately in this case the horse has clearly bolted and again it's the members who are left to clean up this mess.

IMHO it's about time that these type of security leaks where held to count.

    Cheers

    Hi All,

First of all, regarding the post from Trezz, I would like to assure you from the outset there is absolutely no relationship between PlayShare (CasinoShare) and the Casino Spam that you have received. If you ever believe that we are doing something wrong please contact us first, especially an accusation as large as us spamming our database to other casinos, as it may be a simple misunderstand as is the case here.

The link that has been illustrated here is with the URL c-f-1.com, which belongs to Communicator Corporation (www.communicatorcorp.com), who provides a communication platform to a large number of companies, including FTSE 100 companies and various banks. In addition to this provides the same service they provide us to a large number of casino operation including a big portion of the larger casino groups.

We are speaking to Communicator about the URL c-f-1.com as we agree that what you have illustrated here could quite easily be seen as something surreptitious, but I would like to assure you that this is not the case where PlayShare is concerned - we cannot speak for the other casinos that you have sited here, but we are very strict and proper about the way and who we e-mail.

I can assure you we did in-depth research when we looked for a communication platform, as database security is of the upmost importance to us.

    Regards
    Mario

The problem is that SPAM mailers ALSO link back to c-f-1.com, showing that they are prepared to handle mass mailings WITHOUT making any checks that what they are being asked to do is legitimate. This in turn casts doubt onto the integrity of Communicator Corporation, since if they are prepared to be a party to the sending of SPAM, what is to say that they will not offer to send mailers out to addresses they have on file, even where these addresses have come into their possession from a different contract (such as sending out promos).

c-f-1.com is also used for LEGITIMATE mailings from Club World, but those Club World SPAM mailings are ALSO being sent out through the c-f-1.com domain.

There is one HELL of a lot of SPAM where hovering over parts of the message show up c-f-1.com as the "host" for the links and images. This rather suggests a leak between email addresses supplied as part of a legitimate contract, and the spamming contracts.

NetAtlantic is a known spammer, and it seems the ONLY work they handle is spam related.

It matters little what we are told, but when our mailboxes are deluged with spam from c-f-1.com, we tend to think we have been "sold out".

What I find interesting about this whole spamming issue is that we are increasingly seeing casino spam for casinos WITH NO CURRENT AFFILIATE PROGRAM, so this kicks the "rogue affiliate" argument into touch.

For example, Quatro Casino - SPAM, yet the affiliate program at the time was still very much "work in progress", so who sent it? It simply CANNOT be a "rogue affiliate" (unless a stupid one - no tracking, so no profit), and it is hard to see any other entity other than the casino itself benefiting from such early spamming.
