Does the Directorate of Offshore Gaming do anything?

I couldn't find much regarding them searching this forum or on Google.
I tried filing a complain against an online sportsbook and didn't hear a thing. I e-mailed them regarding that, inquiring about my complaint, and didn't get a response either. Are they are real or just some phoney logo that online sportsbooks and casinos use to make them seem legit.

I was using Matchbook, that's who I was making the complaint against.

It says at the bottom of the Matchbook homepage:
    Responsible Gaming

This is a valid Preferential Seal, Issued by the Directorate of Offshore Gaming of Antigua and Barbuda.
Why I chose to file a complaint through them, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

You might want to pm maxd and tell him your issue, see if he can help. Sportsbookreview.com also handles a lot of complaints pertaining to sportsbooks.

That website looks to be made up just for the casino to say they have a seal of approval. At the end of the day that seal of approval you see means nothing at all.

Having a look at matchbooks website it looks like it was put together in about 5 minutes. Not a good sign.

Antigua is one of the older so-called licensing jurisdictions and used to pump out a lot of hype about their legitimacy and efficiency - sending officials to conferences and issuing press releases.

Despite this, in my experience as a mediator (to be fair, I'm going back some time since my last dealings with them) I found them pretty useless. Like the OP here, they rarely responded at all despite frequent attempts and chasers.

There was a time when it was reported that they had improved, but I never personally saw any sign of that.

They have been quiet for some time, but judging by the OP's complaint here they are once again showing the disinterest and disdain for players that was their hallmark when I was trying to get them into gear.

BTW - have you tried the online complaints facility at http://www.antiguagaming.gov.ag/complaints.asp? May be worth a go....

I could have written what Jetset wrote. Antigua used to have a high profile at conferences etc. trying to show how interested they were in player issues and the industry in general, but that was years ago. I had always found that they were relatively useless. The seal doesn't really mean much of anything. But maybe things have changed over the past couple of years. Like Jetset said, give them a go - maybe they're bored and need something to do.

You'd be better off PABing here or getting a hold of SBR.

Will do, thanks. Seems like I've hit a dead end with these guys.

Matchbook doesn't look very flashy but they are pretty popular because they give the best lines. That said, their website is garbage, has a lot to do with my problem with them, how my bets weren't being taken correctly.

I tried that form, but it would always go to an error page after I sent it, on Firefox and IE, so I e-mailed my complaint. I didn't hear back from the e-mail, so I tried that form again a week later and it went through. Didn't hear back from them on anything.

    Little update...

I filed a complaint with Sports Book Review and they didn't do anything either. Much like the Directorate of Offshore Gaming, they didn't respond to e-mails either.
What a waste of precious internet space those two websites are.

Just made a thread on this forum. Going to Google around and see what else I can do.
