........ditto..... i know of someone who had lost a wife , a child and the home is now in forclosure due to online poker and him not being able to control his self, last i heard he is in rehab getting help and his wife is now going to stand by him as long as he continues to seek help and put the family first. the casino knew he had a problem and continued to let him play after he had asked to have his acct closedsome people can handle the gambling and some cannot, its just like drugs and drinking, you have to know when not to cross that fine line.........laurie

While the casino's reply seemed cold and insensitive lest us not forget that ultimately we are responsible for our own actions no matter what corporate responsibility the casinos ought to have. In the western countries they have progressed far enough to insulate people against these vices. However, in Asia, the first thing that will be asked is 'what if the customer comes back and demands we reopen the account for him'. The only option would be to close his account for the time being and reopening it at his request. Rogue behavior you might say but this will be what normally happens here. People will be arguing whether the player's request was just an impulsive decision and so on.

I understand that many of you will find this hard to swallow but this is what is still happening in many parts of the world especially land-based casinos in Macau.

chuchu but i do not want to get drawn into a argument with you but yes i find it hard to swallow ..infact its pretty sad you feel that way regarding compulsive gambling..If a customer aproaches a website and says he needs help then he should be excluded for good no matter if it was impulsive or not "end of story".Sadly the quicker people like yourself learn that gambling does destroy lives the better and its as the EMAIL from them says meant to be a enjoyable fun activity..IMHO it actually borders on exploitation a website allowing someone to re-opn an acct they asked to be closed and again IMO ALL websites must ensure that self exclusion tools are made available. The more i think about your reply the more it disguts me to be honest and maybe u need to go round some gambling websites and read how gambling can and does destroy lives...

Sorry, they did reply right away - haven't had a chance to catch up here yet. My message was sent to the relevant person at senior level who will hopefully put a boot up someone's ass. The email was thoughtless and downright roguish.

noluckever67 has opted out of the forum. Hopefully, he won't consider himself unlucky anymore.
