Not wanting to derail this thread but would like to draw attention to a couple of issues I've got a major problem with!
After 35 pages it's clear how people feel towards JF and their black hat SEO activities. It's also evident that given eCogra's involvement and their quick action to have JF seals suspended, members may now view Ecogra in a different light.
I'd like to think we can all agree that this industry requires some form of unbiased governing body, hopefully void of conflict of interest concerns.
I’m however bemused why eCogra acted so swiftly in this matter, as apposed to 888.com (Cassava) which has been largely an ongoing issue since 2005. Especially considering that 888 is also guilty of black hat SEO activity, adding spam and indirectly supporting rogue affiliate site scaping webmasters too.
But I don’t see 888.com having its Seal suspended.
Some may hold the view, the reason 888.com has not been dealt the same hand as JF is that John Anderson (CEO of Cassava) and non Executive Director for eCogra along with Roger Raatgever (CEO of Microgaming) were the benefactors that established eCogra.
I would think that placing this along side each of the fore mentioned non Executive Directors (About Us Info) would be fitting considering eCogra’s touted commitment to transparency and integrity.
The purists and those with vested interests may have you believe this is the wild rants, cloaked agenda or any other numerous reasons they tend to use when confronted with such views.
On the other hand if your committed to this industry, and view it should be played on an even field as I do, then imo these issues should receive an addressing void of bias or conflict of interest.
It’s my firm opinion if this combined industry is truly concerned in appeasing to those Governments and those who’d like to see the online gaming industry canned, then tough questions like this are warranted and deserve answers.

I do think eCOGRA is good for the industry overall but there is no getting away from the point you raise. Cassava is largely responsible for its creation and I think (though I am not certain) that they are still a major supplier of funds that allows it to continue to operate.
888.com seems to be operating in a fashion recently that is typical of a business that has such a big share of its market that it feels it can do what it likes.

Though probably denounced by nature, this factor as with others pertaining to the degree of 'Jobs for the Boys' syndrome imo is riff within eCogra and has been prevalent since eCogra's conception. Anyone who say's otherwise may like to peruse its meaning - (remove XXX) XXXhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conflict_of_interest
From what I conclude eCogra suspended the Jackpot Factory Seals for unethical practices in relationship to its eGap policy. Using the same ruling 888.com should also be suspended, no ifs no buts. Any other diversion from this outcome is obvious and unmitigated favouritism imo.Originally Posted by mitch

<Dramatic rant> To begin with, this whole convoluted thread would photograph much like an online Transylvanian lynch mob.
Imagine a shrieking mass containing assorted webmasters/bonus-abusers and other furry creatures. These narrow-minded souls are ferociously forming impressions and fearlessly wielding incendiary laptops. </Dramatic rant>
My response in this thread is not aimed at the abovementioned population of webmasters/bonus-abusers.
The only readers I cater to in my response are peers from the industry and a handful of professionals affiliates.
I was the content manager working on the Jackpot Factor account. My connections to JF were severed two months ago for reasons unrelated to the current drama.
Among other things, my job consisted of managing content on JF sites. This content included short stories written by and for the client’s target demographic. The content succeeded to both entertain and convert visitors. In other words, these “stories” were mostly written by women and aimed at pleasing other women.
To quote my email, so generously displayed in message #314, “Articles must be unique, well written, and upbeat.”
Our writers were encouraged to write the fluffy and amusing stories we knew our visitors enjoyed.
I came to rely on a robust method for checking and approving that content. This obviously failed.
I am at fault for failing to catch a partial tide of stories that were obviously written in extremely poor taste. Any offended visitors have my sincere apology.
I never intentionally targeted keywords that combine a gambling term and some wretched condition du Jour; such as [casino cures cervical cancer] or some-other-unpleasant-kw-casino.php.
The JF account was rather aggressive due the intensive nature of the competition in the wonderful world of online gaming.
<Drifting back to imagery> Instead of the majority of Casinomeister’s posters, imagine little stiletto-wielding guppies swimming in the shallow end of a blood-red ocean while watching sharks fight in the distance. </imagery>

This is total rubbish. These keywords were targeted purposely and they were not there to convert visitors who read the stories. The content wasn't even visible to visitors when it was first published on the sites (it was only made visible much later and only at the bottom of the pages which needed to be scrolled down to see). Whether the target demographic for the casinos is women is totally beside the point. They were not there to be read as it would definitely put people off! They were there simply to get traffic from the search engines.Originally Posted by boaz
I also think a lot of these stories were probably cynically written by you. They are often so similar and some show more knowledge of gambling than most people applying for this writing job would have.
