Just type something like dream site:allslots.com into Google and you will have plenty of examples. In case they are pulled before you come back, you can find many of them on archive.org.

At the moment about the only good thing I can say about the Jackpot Factory casinos is that they don't seem to have any stories about viagra, penis enlargement, sex starved lesbians or hot stock tips, but they seem to have covered all the other common spam topics.

Did the rep say they did not realize this was going on? How could they not? This was not something someone randomly decided to do. Someone had to sit down and think about all the words someone would type into a search engine. So to say oh we had no idea...is pure BS.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this up until now, but a look on archive.org shows that some of these pages have existed since March 2005.

There are two important differences between now and then:
    1. Then, all the text was black-on-black, so it would influence Google but be invisible to someone reading the page, unless he highlighted it to read it
    2. The stories used then were much more benign. Some are stupid, but there aren't any celebrating addiction or suggesting gambling is a miracle cure.

    Some examples:
    http://web.archive.org/web/200503161...no-numbers.php
"When hunting for love at a keno game, remember that it is not enough to simply look at a potential sweetheart's keno card. You must understand the significance of the numbers they choose. Sit next to your target and tell him or her that this is your first time playing keno. Ask what strategy they used to select each number on their keno card."

    http://web.archive.org/web/200503161...te-playing.php
"I was working hard yesterday to finish a report when I looked over at my buddy who was staring intensely at his computer so I messaged him - "John, what are you working on?" A reply popped up on my screen moments later. "Online roulette" it read. Online roulette - huh. And I thought that he was working hard so I wrote him again "you're playing online roulette when you should be working!" He replied "online roulette is more fun." I wrote back "how is online roulette different to casino roulette?" A minute later came the reply, "I can play online roulette from the office!" And then I got another message from him, "Also, with online roulette I don't have to push people to get my chips on the numbers I want. And online roulette is faster because I use my mouse to put bets on."

    Plenty more here:
    http://web.archive.org/web/200501010.../allslots.com*

So it would appear that this is a long-standing trick, but it suddenly got much, much worse recently - they stopped hiding the text, and they rolled out hundreds (thousands?) of new pages on much more malignant topics.

I can actually believe it was a disgruntled employee (or ex-employee) who flipped the switch recently to turn the entire catalogue on at once. But clearly it must have taken a very long time to write it all in the first place, so one must assume there was management approval at some point, even if there wasn't approval for the actual publishing of it. But this is all just conjecture.

WE just can see the home page, but the offending text is buried in some rather wierd HTML (beyond me really).

All they have done is fix the pages to spam the search engines PROPERLY.
Because the key phrases are still there, the bots will still bring up the pages, but clicking on the results should just bring up the casino homepage leaving us thinking, "must be a bug in Google".
Initially, I found the pages would give a 404 error, and THEN try to load the home page - it's more convincing now.
Could someone with a degree in HTML have a long look at how they have pulled this off!

As I said earlier, the dirt has been swept under the rug - out of sight, NOT cleaned up!

Erm... Ok, not nearly as bad and (allegedly) real - but not the best time to be sending this promotional email to your customers I should imagine...

Might want to have a rethink Fortune Lounge...

TOO FUNNY, Slotster! I was just about to post this here but you beat me to it!

The first story on this web site is NOT going to sit well with people who have been reading this forum. Let me say, I honestly believe it is a TRUE story, unlike the Jackpot Factory stories... but still.... BAD TIMING, Fortune Lounge!

    Links

I did try to post an example, but could not as trying to get at an example ditched my partly completed thread reply.

    However,

Some of the early links still link to a special 404.php error page, this boots up the promotion page with the "page not found" error messages.

Some of the later ones, particularly the one about Breast Cancer, which has probably offended the majority of existing players of the feminine persuasion, do not produce the 404.php, but simply load an innoffensive home page, although the title in the browser is still that of the "breast cancer" story. When viewed as HTML source though, the text is in what looks like the footer, loaded in something called "dynamic blocks" 1,2,3 etc.

I believe this is ensuring that we can no longer see toe offending articles, but the original intent of spamming Google will still be served. Clearly, they are sorry they allowed these stories to be available to the human eye, but are NOT AT ALL SORRY they engaged in the intended marketing strategy of spamming the search engines. These modified pages are still live now in this altered form.
An earlier poster points out that webarchive has examples dating back to March 2005 - they have been getting away with this for a long time, and have been pushing at the boundaries bit by bit with each passing month, till one day they pushed too far and fell over into the S**t!

It may be worth a casual look to see if any one else has "employed the same marketing consultant", and have not pushed quite so hard at the boundaries.

"Immediate corrective action" means the total and utter removal of all this text, not hiding it in fancy HTML or footers so that it still ranks in Google.
If they are worried about a rash of broken links buggering up their google rankings they should have thought of this earlier! Broken links STILL load up a page not found page error page with all their promotions, untidy, but they still get a hit.

That was the homepage of All Slots on 3 February 2005. There is plenty of black on black at the bottom. Some other pages are red on red. Very sleazy.

Here is part of the source. Put allslots.com before them, and the links still work.

You are correct. They have simply commented out the links to other similar stories.

Here's how it looks now: (and it's STILL available!!)
    http://www.alljackpots.com/want-guil...-gamble-at.php

Here's how it used to look:
    http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache...s&ct=clnk&cd=1

And by looking at the source code, all those links are still there but have been surrounded by HTML comment tags.

I am sort of surprised that all these pages are still available, however, in a way I am not. They've already been rogued and their image is tarnished, so what motivation do they have now for cleaning up their act? The damage has been done.
