Thumbs up Strategy, Hints and Tips for Playing Bingo

Strategy, Hints and Tips for Playing Bingo
Here are a few hints and tips to help you when you're playing bingo.

Anyone can be a bingo player and everyone can be good at it. Bingo is a universal game that can be played by people of all ages. Even though it is a gambling game, it is considered to be in the category of ‘soft gaming'.
Hints and Tips for Playing Bingo Online
There is no real strategy for playing bingo online, as it's simply a matter of luck. However, before you start playing for money it's always a good idea to familiarise yourself with how a particular online bingo game works, and what the payout structure is by playing a few free games of bingo first.
Most reputable online casinos and bingo sites will allow you to play either for free or for money.
Money management is also an important part of playing online bingo. Set yourself a limit and stick to it – and never bet more than you can afford to lose. Although bingo is a low-stake game, keep an eye on how much money you are spending, and don't be tempted to play “just one more game” once you have reached your limit.
It's important to remember that the main reason for playing online bingo should be for fun, not for profit – that way you won't be disappointed if you don't win every time.
Hints and Tips for Playing Live Bingo in a Bingo Hall
Playing live bingo in bingo halls is more complicated than playing online bingo, and although it is still mostly down to luck there are a few things you need to remember if you want to maximise your chances of winning.
In live bingo it is important to act quickly. If you are too slow, you might miss out on a called number and therefore a win. Given that an average bingo game in the UK takes between four and four and a half minute to complete, and that the average speed of British bingo caller is 23 numbers per minute, you need to be able to find the numbers as quickly as possible before the next number is being called.
It is therefore a good idea to spend time getting familiar with the cards and the way in which they are numbered, i.e. the first column contains the numbers from 1 to 10, and the second column contains the numbers from 11 to 20 and so on. By doing this, you will be able to locate the numbers being announced by the caller much faster and therefore make sure you have marked off all the right numbers.
It's also important to understand the terminology used in live bingo games. If you know them you don't have to spend time finding out what on earth is going on while playing bingo and you can therefore concentrate on the game and your numbers instead.
Never play more cards than you can watch or you'll end up going crazy when trying to keep up with all the announced numbers.
Sometimes it's a good idea to bring sticky tape – yes, you read it right – because some games are played on single strips bought separately it's therefore easier to keep track of them if they are taped together instead of flying around in the table while you mark off called numbers.
Make sure you highlight a mistake on your card when you know you've made it. It's a disappointing feeling finding out you shouted “Bingo!”, only to find out you forgot about the mistake you made earlier.

I know many who would disagree with the "matter of luck" philosophy. Me being one. With respect to your opinion, I have seen way too much to believe that online sites have much to do with luck.

There is "newbie syndrome" for one. Are newbies "lucky" or is it programmed into the software to let them win in order to get them hooked? Is it "luck" that can make one player who maxes cards win every 3rd or 4th game whereas another player using the same strategy not win one single game in $100 cash plus whatever bonus the site gives?

Land bingo may be more of a "luck" game. IMO online bingo has very little if anything to do with luck. These games are run on software. Someone tells the software what to do, whether it be the developer or the back end management of a site.

Has it anything to do with "luck" when a players account is closed for reasons only the site seems to know? Is it "luck" when a players wins a jackpot just to be told that the game wasn't supposed to play? Is it "luck" when they request a withdrawal after several times of depositing to be told that they cannot have what they won because they are a "management risk" or that they have the most popular excuse "duplicate accounts"? And is it "luck" when those accounts are closed many times with deposits AND winnings still in them?

Online bingo used to be fun until I started looking at all the ways the sites have to keep from paying out wins to SOME players. Not all sites are like this and you hear very little about them.

Your advise to pace yourself is great advice T. Wish I could have been stronger in that area. And looking at it as entertainment, even though it IS gambling will most certainly let you down easier if you don't win. Also good advice!!

Merry Christmas all and the happiest of New Year's!!!

Nah, it's called researching the site(s) you're going to play at, so you don't get stuck in the situations you outlined above...

Sure, there's plenty of bad apples out there, but then again, there's plenty of good sites that won't try to screw you.
Operators: If you don't know what Transparency means, then here you go.....now how about practicing it?

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...

Excellent post! Research really is the key. There are some bad sites out there, but there ARE some good sites out there too. Unfortunately there are a few that try to discredit the good sites by playing amateur sleuths and looking for problems before gathering their facts. I think they run out of headline making material kind of like the cable news channels do, so they go looking for problems and spin some of their suspicions into fact. Reputable bingo forums like this one are a good way to stay informed!

And then there are some who spend time trying to do something good for the players benefit who hates it when someone cannot or will not speak what is on their mind. No sense beating around the bush is there?

I make mistakes, I am far from perfect, but anytime a player has a complaint I feel it best to check everywhere I can check to get to the bottom of it. And there actually have been times when I have been right!! Glory be.. wonders never cease!

It is common knowlege about my trust for online bingo sites. I don't have any. But that does not mean there are not some out there that are more up and up with their players than others. Sassy I just happened to speak badly of your favorite one and you have a problem with me and my way of doing things.

Let's keep this about helping players if we can, that is the reason T started this thread. If you have something personal to say to me, please just pm me and get it out of your system. This crap doesn't belong on Brian's forum. And "blind punches" don't do anyone any good.

    Bingo, whether

at a land site or an online site is never just 'entertainment' when money is at stake. If you want 'entertainment', play only at the FREE sites.

If you treat and look at bingo as a business instead, you may be disappointed with your winnings, but you will at least be approaching it realistically. That means you HAVE to read, read, read....and read again at each site you go to. There are clues about the site most times that will tell you if you already have an account with their group...and MOST bingo sites are part of a group of a few or a group of many.

To avoid multiple account syndrome (the most common excuse given for a site to take your deposits easily, but never pay out should you win), look at the home page for familiar group names, then read the terms of use and pay attention to the Contact information found within the site or in the Help/Contact/Support links. Often you will find that although you are playing at XYZ.com for the games, the contact links will be going to BBB.com instead. THOSE are the clues because the actual contact email addresses point to the main group that owns the site you are thinking about playing at.

Keep a paper list near at hand so you can start listing which bingo sites go with which group so if you come across a free offer for signup, you stop and search the site for more information first to make sure it isn't already part of a group you are already signed up with, and you will most times be able to avoid a multiple account situation. Some sites have software in place to prevent you from using the same username if it's already being used at one of their 'sister' sites; some won't catch that until you actually fill out the full information profile; some won't give a rat's azz if you have multiple accounts and will let you do the deed, deposit forever, but when you go to finally cashout a big win, will throw the 'multiple accounts' GOTCHA in your face, close your account, and accuse you of cheating THEM.

Read the terms of use carefully to know how your deposit, bonus bucks, and chat bonus bucks (bb's) can be used at the site. Some sites will stop you cold from being able to use those bb's to play casino games; some will let you spend them all playing slots or whatever, but will never let you cash out if you won using them. Also, pay attention to the obscene playthrough rules they list. Most sites require you to spend 3 times your deposit, plus your deposit bonus, if you are playing bingo ONLY before you can ask for a cashout (and they will take away any left over bonus bucks still in your account even though they are making you pay for them)....BUT only ONE spin of the slot games tosses you into a required playthrough now of 12X that deposit, plus your deposit bonus, before you can request a cashout, even if you only spun once and went back to playing bingo.

If you can live with that garbage, more power to you and your bank account. Otherwise, keep on trucking through the online sites until you find a better site to play at that has NO playthrough rules, such as BingoMania.com There are a few others that have no playthrough rules, but they aren't easy to find, since online bingo has, over the years, become such a huge cash-cow for unscrupulous site owners/management. They talk a great game with lots of promos to suck you into the site, but never part with a dime if they can help it.....and software manipulation is easy to accomplish because there is so little, if any, regulatory methods in place to protect the player. They get away with it because they CAN.
