Refused Cross Promotion - Extremely disappointed

I contacted my account manager at Paddy Partners to enable cross promotion. Currently I only promote the casino and that has very limited exposure.

Unfortunately after speaking to her line manager, they have refused my request to be allowed and be credited for players to Paddy Power's other products, including Sportsbooks.

This I feel is a very short sighted outlook and as such I am removing what exposure they currently do have from my sites as a result.

I have just launched a football site at the beginning of June and to say it is my most active site in terms of overall traffic would be an understatement to say the least.

Not only that Paddy Power's refusal to enable cross promotion which I hasten to add, all other UK bookmakers I work with allow, regardless of what traffic put through, is very wrong IMO.

As a result Paddy Power's decision means they also won't get coverage on casino portals which rank on the first page in google.co.uk for terms such as Casinos Online and Online Casinos.

Too bad Paddy Power, your loss.

Well surprise surprise, I received an email yesterday morning from a different affiliate manager at Paddy Power, with regards my football news site, which I wanted to promote their sports book on in the middle of June. Only to be told they will not enable cross promotion, until I have referred sufficient number of casino players.

Which is rather unfair, especially as I have never really pushed their casino.

Anyhow this different affiliate manager, wanted to know what football promotions I am going to run with on the football site from the start of the season. She also indicated she would waive the cross promotion rule in place.

I emailed her back, asking her to call me to discuss. Particularly Paddy Power's affiliate program's unfair cross promotion ruling. Have I heard anything? Not a thing.

Sorry great casino, great sportsbook and great for players.

But Paddy Power's affiliate program really does suck IMO. Now they want to work with me, as they have seen my football site being linked to from various media and news sites. But they wouldn't help me from the start.

Poor form and Paddy Power's senior management really need to take a long hard look as to how they run their affiliate program, as I am afraid it is akin to how Ladbrokes were operating theirs, when I worked for them some 6 + years ago.

Another thing Paddy Power would do well to remember. Today's small affiliate, could be tomorrow's super affiliate.

If you are not affiliate friendly to the small affiliate, then IMO you are not affiliate friendly at all.

Their affiliate manager has recently accessed their forum account:

I'll send a PM to see if they'd like to discuss this further.

Almost a year later,( March 2012 ) this continues to be an issue. I remember seeing this thread somewhere else, and I shared my experience as well. The thing is short sighted will be, if a book doesn't want to bump up revenue share or something small like this, not paying across all channels is pure theft. It's common logic that players I have sent, should grant me $$$ if they have generated profit, regardless of the product they play on. Money is money, and I don't see why Paddy is acting like they don't know it.

What made me even more concerned is that no 2 managers knew exactly what the rules of enabling cross promotion were. I met them in BAC, and I was told that your site had to be an year old, then I talked with AMs online and I was told they had to see traffic, then I was told that if they do see traffic 3-6 months have to pass by. I know from another affiliate that they have told him something different and not a single answer matched.

Like I need a reason to be entitled to my earnings. So pretty much after a week and a half of promoting them, I stopped, and left it as it is.

Imagine if gambling laws made it so that Paddy is entitled to earnings only from sports and whatever their players lose in casino poker and bingo, gets sent back to the players accounts... or worse some other institution gets it... won't be fun would it?

I love Paddy but this term is silly. If someone walks into Marks & Spencers and buys a shirt, they are a customer of M&S, not the clothes section. A customer is a customer of a brand, not a product.
