    Too good to be true?

I've never made a sports bet before. And I've never heard of MANSION before.
This promotion seems like it could cost MANSION a lot of money, and if one hedged the bet at another site, it seems like one would have a "must win" situation: which is why I say that it sounds too good to be true.

Here's the link explaining the promotion.
ZERO RISK, HIGH PROBABILITY opportunity to win $1000!!!

    What is MANSION's reputation?
Does anything about this sound fishy to anybody?
Think it is safe to go for it? It is a lot of money for me.

This promotion has been discussed to oblivion here:

The 2+2 Forums: Another Mansion free bet

The promo and Mansion are for real, hedge away!

It is totally insane. I don't know if it is safe, there is going to be million$ pouring out of that place when the bets or refunds go through.

But I'm in. Unfortunately I got in early when the line was 5, so hedging's a bit of a problem for me now.

    Go Steelers!

I've heard it argued that the 100% up to $1000 first deposit bonus for MANSION would work to curtail immediate withdrawals of money after the game, as people would want to use their money to try to earn the bonus (giving MANSION a chance to win its money back). Can something like that alone make this promotion profitable for MANSION? Are there any ways that THEY can hedge THEIR bet on this promotion?

It just seems like, with so much money potentially involved, it might be tempting for them to just take the money and run. If I can understand how they are going to MAKE money, then I can feel safer.

Well it would be if they were crooks who had set up yesterday and had no intent to actually run a sportsbook.

THey've been running similar "cash-back" offers in European football for a season now (albeit in smaller amounts) - but by putting a USD$1100 minimum it would not surprise me if their exposure was actually much the same as they won't have to deal with all the smaller rats n mice punters.

How will they make money from this promotion?
    Well :

    1) They've attracted the attention of punters with the ability to plonk down $1K on a bet.

    2) They've got them through the hurdle of making a "first deposit" and actually trying out the software.

    3) THey're breaking into a US sports market that is traditionally served from Costa Rica.

But the most important thing for me is that MANSION are a major sponsor of English Football Club Tottenham Hotspurs (to the tune of GBP 28m over four years) and licensed in Gibraltar which is probably one of the tightest legislative gambling countries.

This is not one of the hundreds of little fly-by-night casinos and poker houses that are discussed all thruogh casinomeister that we all roll our eyes at when seeing people getting stung by stupid clauses.

    -------------

Based on that do I think that Mansion has been set-up as a 2-year sting operation - employing 50 people - setting up premises - establish a brand in sports / casino / poker - with expenses that must run into tens of millions of dollars .... just so that they can capture a couple of million dollars in bets and then try and disappear?

NO - and don't be so bloody stupid.

(Apologies for the language - but it's amazing how much uninformed bollocks is posted - and how far it runs)

They are going to make money eventually by building up a large base of customers. Or maybe they will fail like so many internet companies before them have. This free wager is a marketing expense towards that goal.

They are not going to make money directly by offering a free $1100 bet to all takers. Hedging won't do it, attracting casino bonus hunters won't. It is potentially going to cost them millions of dollars.

If you don't feel safe enough, then don't take the offer.

With Roethlisberger now out, Mansion's risk would seem to be reduced substantially.

This operation is owned and run by Putera Sampoerna, google him .

Mansion run quite a few of these loss making promotions across their products.

Seconded! Withdrew all but $200, thought I'd give them a little more action because they are a-ok!
