UConn's Jim Calhoun takes a big hit

His image will never be the same. There is a giant black smudge that has been rubbed all over Jim Calhoun's stellar career. Yes, he has won two national championships. Yes, he is a Hall of Fame coach. But those won't be the things that people remember anymore.
All they will remember now is that Jim Calhoun is a rule-breaker.
On Tuesday, the NCAA Committee on Infractions took that 700-page UConn report on its findings and subsequent penalties on the recruitment of Nate Miles and threw it in the trash. That "insufficient evidence" conclusion that the university came up with regarding the charge that the head coach "failed to promote an atmosphere for compliance?" The NCAA wasn't buying one iota of that.
The hundreds of impermissible phone calls and text mesages? The number of impermissible tickets given out? Oh, yes, the Infractions Committee felt that Calhoun knew all about them. Not only did he know but apparently, he looked the other way.
