This year's Grand National is one of the most competitive we've seen for a long time. Handicapper Phil Smith has done a great job of getting all 40 horses in the handicap proper and as a consequence most of the field go to post with live chances. No horse has won back to back Nationals since the legendary Red Rum in 1974, a statistic that Numbersixvalverde tries to put right on Saturday.

I managed to just grab Philsons Run on an each way bet at 66-1. Of course, had I not taken the odds, it would've been 100-1 - duh... Still, just about covered my losses on the dreadful on the nose choices I came up with!
