Who is screwing up whose English? England was originally called "Englaland" (land of the Angles - a Germanic tribe). Mispronounced it became Englisc in the late ninth century. Later on you guys removed the c and threw in an h.

IMO - the changes that Americans make are merely improvements to an already beat up language.
