POKERCHAMPS CLOSING US Accounts-you have less than 24 hours to get your account clear

    I viewed this info at:

FOR US PLAYERS ONLY - (Maybe?) I think they are just stopping betting for US Players.

    http://pokerchaos.blogspot.com/

I'm not a poker player - except video - but I thought if anyone was playing Online Poker at PokerChamps you might want to check your accounts now.

The letter the blogger at pokerchaos got this email:

    Dear ,

As part of the recent upgrade, PokerChamps has performed a system change that begins the process of moving to a new platform. We have also incorporated geo-location software which enables us to implement a long standing and consistent Group Company policy of not permitting access to individuals in the United States. Affected individuals have until tomorrow 21st July 2006 at 12pm EST/5pm BST to withdraw funds after which time accounts will be locked and funds returned by arrangement with our customer service team. Please contact SUPPORT@POKERCHAMPS.COM with any queries.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your contributions to the PokerChamps community, and we wish you all the very best in your poker playing future.

    Yours Sincerely,

    PokerChamps Management Team

Like I said this is directly quoted from that blog - but I thought you'd like to know, just in case you had any monies in there - whatsoever.

    Good Luck.

It's taken a while but Betfair have finally communicated an official position on the exclusion of US players at Poker Champs:

    Quote:

The decision to close US accounts is not a direct response to recent developments involving BetonSports. It has been the long standing position of BetFair not to accept U.S. players. PokerChamps, now that it is owned by
BetFair, has had to come into line with this business decision. We are
sorry for the inconvenience this causes.

With regard to your other question- Betfair Poker is currently a
licencee of Cryptologic. In the near future Betfair Poker will be
joining an updated version of the Poker Champs platform. Both brands
will remain separate but player liquidity will be shared.

The updated Poker software will maintain the look and feel of Betfair
Poker and Poker Champs but will incorporate a number of new features
e.g. choice of educational video content, player profile, player search
and map, VIP club, new languages, bigger cash (ring games). Unquote

Is this a start of things to come?
Are we going to see other Poker rooms (followed by casinos) follow suit?

Could the the latest arrests have a bearing on this?

Will be interesting to watch how this pans out.

Since the Betonsports arrest the B2B Network, Eurobet, Poker4ever and Everest Poker have all stopped accepting US players. I seriously doubt any poker room that has a large percent of their player base in the U.S. would do this. It would be suicide and I think it has become more and more obvious to people that there is more to the Betonsports story then being involved in online gambling. Note that B2B and Eurobet offer sportsbooks. The interesting thing is that Eurobet never allowed US players to play in their sportsbook anyway, only the casino and poker room.

I guess we will see what happens down the road but I doubt there will be a mass booting of US players. OTOH I bet you will not be seeing execs for these companies changing planes in the US either.
