    Moneybookers account verification (documentation)

    Greetings.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate forum where to post this, but I couldn't find a better one.
I have a quite big problem and I'm worried. I really need your advice on this, please. Read carefully, or skip.

    1) So, first of all, my birthday is 12.05.1992. I have just turned 18 years old few days ago and I made my own account on Moneybookers.

    2) I decided to make a full verification to my account - so I added my bank account, debit card and sent a request for address verification mail.

    3) Also, I wanted to order my own Moneybookers Mastercard, but before I could do this I first had to send them my identification- and address documents.

    4) I went to my bank and asked for a Bank Statement that has a date, my name and address on it. So basically, this would be the address proof for Moneybookers. When I got home, I grabbed my digital camera and took a close-up picture of it showing all the 4 edges of the document.

    5) Now, that's where the problem comes in. For the last thing I just had to take a picture of my passport or ID card, but before I could go for it I noticed that I have previously scanned in one and had it on my computer. I now realized I have all what Moneybookers require from me and sent the files - a picture of my bank statement and a scan of my passport.

Funny thing, that I didn't recognize the problem before the next day when I opened my mailbox and read their response:

"We appreciate the document you have provided. However, the date of birth from the provided document is different from our records. We hope you understand that Moneybookers Ltd. has a strict security policy aimed at protecting your account privacy. Please accept our apologies for any possible inconvenience and provide us with an short explanation what caused the date of birth mismatch and if this account has been registered on somebody else`s name, provide us with complete details as for your relationship with this person and the reason for submitting incorrect details."

So basically, now I have to choose between two options as a response to Moneybookers, but I'm having a hard time making the decision - Telling the truth or going with a lie.

    1) A lie would be:
"Oh, I must have mistyped my date of birth. I'm sorry for that. Could you please fix this for me?"

    2) The truth would be:
"Ok, here's the deal. I must have sent you a Photo-shopped version of my passport by mistake. Here's the original one. Be my guest."

    1) The lie sure does seem more reasonable decision at first and probably would do the trick, but that's not who I want to be. I want to have a 100% legit account of my own so there wouldn't be any part of me having unwanted stressful thoughts.

    2) But don't be confused. Let me explain the second option, please. The reason why I've Photo-shopped my passport is unsure even to myself. It must have been out of boredom and definitely a long time ago. Probably I just did it out of pure curiosity (I changed 1992 to 1991).

I just want you to know that I've been waiting for a really long time to get my own Moneybookers account. And now, when I finally turned 18, I literally fucked up the case in a really mysterious way. I feel bad. I feel really bad.

    What are the odds?

My apologies for making a huge post but I wanted to get it all out of me. I'm appreciating you for reading this.

What if I take a picture of the both sides of my ID card, passport and an additional picture of me holding the documents next to my face? I'm even willing to go to police to get my documents verified for Moneybookers. I just don't want to lose my account.

So here comes the big question for you: What the f... should I do?

Oh dear, I feel for you, I do.

Don't lie. Casinos can share information with their payment partners, and you will have to provide correct information if you want to get paid. Sad to say, players from the former USSR are viewed with more suspicion that players from some other countries.

Well, maybe lie a little bit. You could say the photoshopped document was part of a school project on identity theft. Offer to get a notarized copy of your passport if necessary. Include a copy of your ID card as well.

    Good luck to you.

Hi there, you've pretty much excluded option #1 (lying) by posting your story on a public forum.

I wouldn't be surprised if personal details like name, address and DOB are shared between MB and merchants for verification purposes.

Go with the truth from now on, and pray that the MB rep looking at your case remembers what its like to be 17

Hope it all gets sorted for you!

This does happen. I actually transposed my month and day before they started using the printed month in the casino signups. I had to reverify this when my license did not match my info at one casino a long time ago and they were very understanding...as long as you provide them with the real info and own up to the other...they can choose to not allow you but, I believe they will accept your honesty.

    Good luck!

    Thank you for your replies!

I started wondering myself that maybe I should try telling the story to Moneybookers anonymously first - Explaining everything like I did in this thread and asking their honest advice.

By anonymously I mean using a different IP (proxy) and e-mail address.

This idea sounds quite good to me. What's your opinion?

IMHOP you have no choice but going with the truth anyways, so you might as well be up front with them.

Remember you may find yourself with a useless MB account if you lie about your DOB.
If they compare their details with the casino's you'll get caught.
Unless you plan on faking your details with casinos as well.

Please don't go down that road!

    Good luck

Hmm I wonder if this is the same 3cstasy who has been posting on the bonus forums since november 2009?

A suspicious person would think in fact it mght be, and that he was using a faked ID last year to play in some casinos and forgot to rescan it when he was finnaly legal.

Fortunately I am not a suspicious person and completely believe his much mroe plausible story about "must have changed the date back one year out of boredom some time"

Yeah, not plausible, this ridiculous story about changing your dob whilst you were bored.

You need to think up a better lie

Moneybookers have probably already figured that the difference of 1 year is down to a 17 year old wanting to pass for 18. The problem is that if this false detail has been used online in order to access 18 rated services (gambling) by a 17 year old, merely correcting ONE instance of this will only ensure that discrepancies will crop up if the right checks are made in the future. The end result is likely to be refusal of payment of winnings by casinos, or Moneybookers freezing the account.

If the truth is told, Moneybookers will probably reject the account, but at least no money will have been lost.

The best option would be to forget about Moneybookers, delete the photoshopped passport (so it doesn't get used again), and open an account with the PROPER details at another provider, such as Neteller or Click2Pay. Even this might cause problems unless note is taken of casino GROUPS that have been sent the photoshopped passport, and no play is EVER made there again.

I find it hard to believe that a photoshopped passport wasn't spotted before, so maybe this was never used at online casinos, who are VERY wary of this kind of thing, and WOULD easily spot an image that had been tampered with.
