    Online Blackjack Software

    Hi,

I'm looking for the best software around that can (for any given rules) calculate house edge, play optimum basic strategy and possibly also take into account the cards actually in play.

I don't want this to incorporate card counting as I’m looking at online play only (where I understand the RNG create the cards from a newly shuffled shoe each time).

I know there a plenty around and that many are very good programs, but even the good ones seem to use different methods to calculate the play (all based on mathematics though).

I know these cannot give you an edge in a negative expectancy game but they can make sure you keep the house edge to a minimum.

Can anyone give me their opinions of any they have used?
    Thanks in advance

    Stan

Read http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/ and you'll have one of them in your head - it'll be a lot quicker than using software (and "robots" are illegal on most sites).

Not sure I understand what you mean. Assuming you mean BJ, the house edge for any game is available on the internet along with its associated BS. Likewise tools that will take into account the cards played, though that doesn't gain you much. If you want a program that will actually do the playing for you, I don't know of any, except Viper of course.

Of course all the good programs use mathematics to determine the above. How else could it be done?

    Clarification on BJ software

    Arbster
I'm aware robots are not allowed and I already use the wizards BS cards, i hoped a similar software that produced them was available already.

I wanted something that took into account both the best strategy for any particular rules and also the cards in play. Not to actually autoplay a hand, just to instruct for each hand as it is played.

    Stan,

If you feel that you must rely on other methods besides learning BS with variations which the Wisard of odds will provide.

I would suggest that you rely on Microgaming sites and turn on the expert help, if you wanted, you could autoplay, but I doubt that this would help you learn the game. There are a few bugs in MG table that you can correct and save.

@Buck thanks, I am aware of the bugs in the Microgaming BS for expert mode.
I don't need to learn the game and I know the best BS for most common rules, this isn't what i need.

Without going into details of why i want it, i justed wanted to an application to plug in the rules, it could then produce the house edge and BS. I also wanted peoples reviews and comments about such software. I, as everyone else can find the BS cards for any rules on the net.

@Grandmaster, thanks for the link. I have looked at this java app before it's very useful. I wondered how it compared to things like blackjack2021 and Blackjack Game and Basic Strategy Calculator files by eric farmer or any others.

    Cheers

I've seen blackjack2021 give slightly different results depending on the order of the player cards which doesn't seem right to me. Also it seems to give slightly different EV's than the java applet. It does not have an option for re-hitting split aces or splitting to 4 hands.
Neither says a thing about HA or BS. Ken Smith's http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php will give HA & BS for various sets of rules. I think it assumes splitting to 4 hands when it gives HA but I could be wrong.

Absolutely superb software. Norm Wattenberger is head and shoulders above all the rest.
