Harrods Bonus

For the next few days Harrods Casino is offering an innovative bonus.

They are offering to add a bonus to your winnings when you win 5 consecutive hands of blackjack. The bonus is equal to the average amount bet on those 5 hands e.g bet £50 over the 5 hands = £10 bonus.

Given that the house edge on their ordinary Bj is 0.29% and on their single deck Bj is 0.05% this appears to turn the games into positive expectation ones.

Can any of you maths guys out there confirm this?

Also what would the best money management strategy be in playing under these rules? In addition given that they allow late surrender would it be best to refuse this if say you had already won 3 or 4 hands?

Anybody actually played there yet under these rules and how did you get on?

Mitch

Ok i'm not a maths boffin like some here but the following seems logical...

By my reckoning if you ignore the 0.05% house edge and thus assume its a 50/50 chance, you have a 1 in 32 chance of 5 in a row - so allowing for house edge its probably about a 1 in 33 chance. Which means assuming a £10 per hand stake, you'll get an extra £10 for every £330 you wager - or put another way its a 3.3% bonus. So I guess it does turn it into a positive expectation game.

Im not very math skilled but IF the promotion terms are that it looks they are seeking trouble.

Why just not bet always the minimun allowed and when you have won 4 in a row bet the table max in the 5th hand

Or are you meaning 5 consecutive BLACKJACKs in a row what is a long, long, long shot?

well, no I´m beginning to figure out why portugal is one of the low-wage countries in the European Union ... just kidding ;-)

your average bet in that case would be: (1$+1$+1$+1$+96$) / 5 = 20 $ , well it´s actually GBP at Harrods

I assume you know i knew the answer. This promo seems to good to be true unless they are only paying it ONE time. If they let player take advantage of it time after time... makes no sense.

Keep in mind that in blackjack a good deal of your winnings come from splits, doubles, and the 3:2 payoff for blackjack. This, coupled with pushes, means your chance of winning any given hand is closer to 44%. That puts the odds of a streak of 5 wins at a bit worse than 1 in 50.

This is still more than enough to put the odds in the player's favor. Especially if you jack up your bet after the 4th win. I would have to think that they'll put a restriction on how frequently they award this bonus.

Harrods limit the total amount you can win under this bonus to £100.
Not bad though

Anybody played there and won this?

Mitch

In order to have a more complete view, it would be interesting to know the WR connected to the special bonus.
