    Playtech's The Mummy Slot

Heh, Iam looking for opinions on the new playtech The Mummy slot?. Having just played it myself for the last hour I cant make up my mind about it. On one hand its unique but on the other its so frustrating.

Basically the feature activates randomly then u have six picks to win cash prizes until u find "collect". After the bonus finishes you are awarded one feature, then you can choose this for the base game the first being the scorpion symbols become scatters. After every bonus round you are awarded an extra feature, then you have the choice for each spin to choose a different feature say expanding wilds, random wilds, extra scatters.

There is a free spin feature activated after the fourth bonus round but this only puts the free spins symbols on reels one, three and five. So to activate the free spins the 3 symbols have to appear. After what felt like hundreds of spins I activated the 5 free spins and 1 super spin. Your 5 free spins play as normal spins but any wilds within they spins get added together in a table.

Say 6 wilds appear during the 5 free spins, then for the final "super spin" they 6 wilds will be "randomly" placed on the reels for the final spin.

My free spin payout was £1.50 on a £0.50 bet on free spins and my highest pay in 500 spins was £12 when I picked expanding wilds for a spin.

I have only got 4 of the 8 features available, but in the whole I find this slot far to complicated. It would have been alot better if it was several different free spin features in the model of TS2 or Immortal Romance.I just cant see this one paying high returns.

I think it's good entertainment - lovely to look at too - but like any slot with so many features (8 in all) it's always going to be low variance and not one to walk away from a millionaire!!

I spent a couple of hours on it today making the video below which has all 8 features which might be interesting for those that can't play it or can't be arsed FYI I started with £500 and finished with £526 - the biggest win was 85x bet in the free spins during a non-capture moment - d'oh!

PS. Hope you don't mind Greigssy but I re-titled the thread as "Mummy slot" sounded a bit Fraggle Rock

I played it some myself and unlocked all but 2 features. Had a few free games but but none reached more than 40xbet and most where bellow 15xbet. Biggest win was $30 or so in normal spins with the multiplying wilds on a 20c bet. I don't really like it. Too many features.

Yep to many feature choices. For instance I picked the scorpion scatter got no more than 2 scatters,so I picked the expanding wilds. Guess what happened I got 5 scorpions in view.

I went back to scorpions scatters a few spins later wilds on reels 2.3.4 with a Brendan Fraser on reel 1. I dont like that feeling that am constantly picking the wrong options.

As to the scorpion symbol is that supposed to be Dwayne "The Rock " Johnson,it looks like a bad lookalike?

I agree that is frustrating. After a while I decided that the best one to stay with is (the last one in the video above), the "Mummy Respin". The reason is that you get the initial spin with wilds where you could win and then a respin on top and if you get all 3 wilds in then the potential is better IMO.

I wonder if the RTP might be a bit better on this one too because you effectively get two spins and the second one, with expanding wild(s) is a guaranteed winner. Either way, it's also more fun

Hey, anyone know if the features always get awarded in the same order or have people been getting them in a different order to what I got above?

I'm very impressed with this slot, and I haven't been this impressed with a playtech slot in a while.

I started with $20 and ended up with $800. I got all the features and found some were better than others.

The best ones for me were the scarab wild feature and the free games (got 5-7 wilds many times). I didn't like the wild 3x multiplier and the respin wild.

The order followed top to bottom as listed so I assume its the same.

The mummys hunt feature was disappointing given it was so hard to get. The max win appears to be about 30x total.

Yeah that's the boring one and you can't even go get a cup of tea 'cos you have to interact LOL.

The free spins is odd because the first 5 are really just collecting Mummy heads - never get a win worth having - so it's all about the Super Spin at the end really. That and the Mummy Respin reminds me of the Hulk game when you get all 3 wilds in view and they expand - that's the payday spin if you can get it.

I think that all the features do is tweak the variance without influencing RPT (Mummy hunt and wild respins might increase RPT as they are added to the reel "layout" but as for the others I got quickly discouraged by non random symbol distribution)

What do I mean by non random symbol distribution? Greigssy summed it up in his example. Just do 100 test spins in real mode using : say "scorpion feature" and check how many wilds you'll get. Then switch to expanding mummy, and check how the number of scorpion symbols suddenly gets back to normal, but on the other hand the number of wilds will be at least halved . Changing symbol distribution on the basis of what feature you might pick seems like a big disadvantage. Other than that I agree it looks great, and plays smoothly.
