Since I play mostly Microgaming, I have seen this over the years. Many casinos seem to rely on a constant intake of new players, so cater to them by competing with each other over welcome offers. Once through the door, it is often the case that you never see an offer anywhere near that level again, whilst at the same time other casinos are bombarding you with THEIR welcome offers. This created the unwanted "industry" of "bonus whoring" among players. The continued ignoring of loyal players as worthy recipients of offers designed to keep them loyal despite the welcome offers they were receiving from elsewhere only made matters worse when the "bonus whores" started to congregate on various internet forums, bragging about how successful their methodology was compared to remaining loyal to casinos they had already joined.
Managers can afford to ignore existing players so long as they can attract a steady stream of new signups, and not too many of these beating the bonus. An earlier industry statistic was that the average life of a player was around 6 months, so this made casinos feel there was a strong need to ensure a steady stream of replacement players, and little point in spending resources on players only likely to stick around for a few months.
Perhaps they should have asked WHY the average life of a player is 6 months, and maybe they might have considered the possibilty that this is down to them being ignored for loyalty, but getting good offers from elsewhere. This mistake is not confined to casinos, the same short sighted attitude pervades many businesses, and here in the UK we have several swithing sites that say the ONLY way to get a decent deal on things like energy, phone, and broadband is to constantly switch to a different provider every couple of years, or at the very least PRETEND you have decided to switch in order to give them a chance to come up with a better deal in order to keep your custom.
The thing is, it WORKS! I started doing this a while ago, a mixture of switching suppliers or asking them whether they have a better deal every couple of years. I once got over £20 a month lopped off my Virgin Media bill for threatening to jump ship to SKY after they removed Sky 1 from the service. I was bluffing, but it worked
This year I will probably do the same, but unlike before, I am NOT going to be bluffing - had a dish installed this summer
Satellite box should arrive this week
No point getting a discount on something that no longer works properly, and cuts me off at random in the middle of an MPV Tournament
Just waiting now on changing broadband when BT Infinity arrives here.
I have used the same method when dealing with casinos, ignore me, and I ignore you (and uninstall the software). Funny how NOT playing gets their attention far better than when you ARE.
I am currently ignoring an accredited casino that saw fit to "sit on" my last withdrawal not for 24-72 hours, but for TEN DAYS before finally paying. CS couldn't even be arsed to reply to my query as to WHY, and seemed to think that paying me on day 11 was the end of the matter, and didn't warrant a reply.
I expect that ignoring them for a few weeks after depositing £1200 in a single week might get their attention, plus an explanation.
Fortunately, there are a number of Microgaming casinos that DO look after their regular players, and even offer them far more on a regular basis than could possibly be got by going elsewhere for a welcome bonus. The offers form part of a clear programme that makes it clear that they will keep on coming.
This has meant a few casinos remain installed, whilst the majority come and go. They receive deposits both with, and without, bonuses. This is beacause they are installed on a permanent basis, and are there when the fancy takes me at a time when there are no unclaimed offers in my inbox. Surprisingly for some, one such group is Casino Rewards. Despite a bad start that had me ignoring them for two YEARS, they eventually saw the light and decided I was VIP material. Even MORE of a surprise is when Red Flush lost interest in me, and I had to replace them with the Betway/GNUF pairing, where I am now VIP at GNUF where the offers are VERY good indeed, although they cut bonuses if you end up ahead over the life of the account (which is why I don't get any offers from Betway, only from GNUF).
Jackpot Factory used to give decent offers, and combined relatively low percentages of deposit bonuses with promotions that had substantial prizes up for grabs. Now it's mainly 10% on all deposits, and promotions rarely have a top prize above £500, whereas it used to be around the £2000 mark.
The introduction of MPV seems to have caused other promotions to be cut back in value, quite severely in cases.
