    Dissapointed with CasinoEuros 'Bonus' Email

Last Saturday, I recieved an email from Casino Euro. They are a NetEnt online casino, and I play with them a fair amount.

    The email was worded:

Subject: "MYNAME, play this weekend - get free money on Monday!"

Message: "Try your luck this weekend and we´ll help you start the week with a smile!
Play any game at CasinoEuro this weekend and we´ll automatically add FREE money to your account on Monday!
Don't miss out on our latest games and huge jackpots!
    Have a lucky weekend!
    The CasinoEuro Team.

    THIS IS HOW IT WORKS
    • Play a minimum of 200 rounds this weekend between Saturday 15/10/2011 00:00 CET and Sunday 16/10/2011 23:59 CET to be eligible for the free money.
    • Free money will be activated on Monday on 17/10/2011 11:00-23:59 CET
    • This is an exclusive bonus offer valid only for recipients of this mail."

So, I was planning to deposit anyway over the weekend, so I deposited around 115€, and had quite some playtime from it, enjoyed it a fair bit. Didn't cash out, but like I say, had fun for the deposit!

It came to Monday, and I waited to see what I'd get in my account, I wasn't expecting a huge amount, or even a medium amount, but I logged in around lunchtime ish, to find an amazing ONE EURO (1€) in my account.

I wondered if something had gone wrong, so I spoke to live support, who asked me to forward the email to their support department so they could get back to me. I did so, then heard nothing at all, so contacted live support again tonight to ask the same questions.

    Here's the transcript:

"10/18/2011 10:25:50PM Session Started with Agent (Mikael)
    10/18/2011 10:25:50PM Me: " promo offer"
10/18/2011 10:26:00PM Agent (Mikael): "Hello. What can I do for you today?"
    10/18/2011 10:26:15PM Me: "Hey Mikael"
10/18/2011 10:26:43PM Me: "I have a question about a promo I was sent on Saturday."
10/18/2011 10:27:02PM Me: "the promo stated that if you play at least 200 rounds on saturday and sunday, you'd recieve some free bonus money on Monday"
10/18/2011 10:27:16PM Me: "I deposited 115 euros and had great fun playing for a long time on it during Saturday."
10/18/2011 10:27:24PM Me: "on Monday I logged in, to find 1 EURO free money?"
    10/18/2011 10:27:28PM Me: "is it a joke?"
10/18/2011 10:29:15PM Agent (Mikael): "It was not supposed to be a major bonus, but rather just a gesture of goodwill."
    10/18/2011 10:30:47PM Me: "so 1 euro?"
    10/18/2011 10:30:53PM Me: "cos I worked out"
10/18/2011 10:31:09PM Me: "even if you play a min spin game"
    10/18/2011 10:31:11PM Me: "like 0.20 cents"
    10/18/2011 10:31:17PM Me: "200 rounds = 40 euros"
10/18/2011 10:31:25PM Me: "and the wording in the email..."
10/18/2011 10:31:30PM Me: "to only recieve 1 euro bonus"
    10/18/2011 10:31:33PM Me: "is terrible"
10/18/2011 10:33:05PM Agent (Mikael): "I understand that can be frustrating, if you where expecting a bonus of around 50%, but as said, it was just a little goodwill thing."
10/18/2011 10:33:50PM Me: "no i wasn't expecting a huge bonus, far from it, i couldve taken a match bonus if that was the case, but can you see how a 1€ bonus when you've played 200 rounds (even at min bet) seems a bit pointless?"
10/18/2011 10:35:09PM Agent (Mikael): "It was not supposed to be a "real" bonus as mentioned, just a nice gesture."
10/18/2011 10:35:33PM Me: "ok, well thanks for explaining."
10/18/2011 10:36:20PM Agent (Mikael): "No problem. Have a further good night."
    10/18/2011 10:36:22PM Session Ended"

So, CasinoMeister - what are your thoughts - am I silly to view the 1€ 'bonus' as a slap in the face? Or do you think its fair, and as the operator says, a simple 'gesture of goodwill'?

To me, it absolutely seems like a slap in the face....add an insult to that....and then it's just plain stupid.
I think I would ask them to close my account, and not send any more goodwill my way, in e-mails or any other way.
That said...I would not deposit based on anything like that anyway, without knowing excactly what was involved. (as you said, you planned on depositting anyway, so...)
Anyway, nothing is so bad, that nothing good can come out of it, and now you know what you can expect from those guys in the future.....which isn't much

If they hadn't asked you to deposit to get this free money, but you just got an email saying thanks for playing this weekend, I'd consider it a nice guesture.

I regularly get some kind of cash back offer that is in the 10 - 25% range, sometimes as high as 50 percent. So I'd consider 1 euro a bit of an insult.

I guess if someone played 1 cent per spin for 200 spins, the casino would be right in only crediting a euro.

It was supposed to be a "nice gesture", but instead ended up being an "insult".

This reminds me of the infamous "Gift Crap" promo BelleRock ran some years ago. It had many similarities. You had to deposit a certain amount, and play rounds to a certain value, and you would receive a load of free spins on a slot game. I can't remember the exact details, but it was something like 100 free spins, so it looked a pretty decent offer. When the free spins were credited, it was ONE line per spin, and 1p (or 1c) per line. Coincidentally, it all added up to a bonus of £1 or 1 Euro.

Needless to say, this marketing stunt backfired, and thee term "Gift Crap" was coined as the spins were granted on the Microgaming slot "Gift Rap". I believe I "won" the sum of around 60p from the spins, but BelleRock had to suffer some months of ridicule, so in some sense it was "fun and entertaining" after having gotten over the "slap in the face".

In this case, 1 Euro is just too small. A gesture of even 10 Euro would have been enough, and would have been taken in "good spirit" by players. All they have done now is to "poison" this particular promotional format, and if they run it again, many players will simply ignore it and deposit their money elsewhere, since they would expect another 1 Euro "insult" on Monday.

    .

It is disappointing to see such a bad promo from a Net Entertainment based casino. Unfortunately, this is not the first bad promo I have seen from the Betsson Group. Their casinos do have a tendency to occasionally create pretty bad promos.

To say that the free money (€1) was given to you as a gesture of goodwill is a very strange thing to say in this case. The free money was given to you because you recieved a promo e-mail, you completed the conditions and therefore was given €1. It has nothing do do with "a gesture of goodwill". But yea, it would have been a gesture of goodwill if they had credited your account with free money without the use of a promo e-mail and without any conditions.

Promo or not, €1 is ridiculous for any casino to give an active and depositing customer. I would have seen it as an insult.

I did get a good chuckle when I saw they paid you £1 but would be pissed if that happened to me. I would likely not take any of their future promos if live support gave me that kind of answer.

I did see the funny side, and made sure I had the last laugh by being a bit "creative" with the screenshot

It wasn't even a straight £1, but 100 spins @1p, which ended up giving me some 60p, which of course had to be wagered 30x. It wouldn't have mattered if the WR was zero, since £1 is way below the minimum withdrawal in any case. They did repeat the promo, and I ignored it and deposited elsewhere.

Now, you at least get FIVE lines @ 1p
