Is it right for Casinos to ask in Chat for your Credit Card number?!

I just registred to PaddyPower and my cc didnt work ( it work on all other casinos normaly)

So I contacted their chat and their chat guy asking for my CC number on support chat...

I think its strange, as it's the most unsecure way..
So immediately i asked them to close my account.

No, it is NOT right for them to request your CC number or any other personal info, other than your user name and that's it! I would delete that casino and be thankful I did!

I agree. Max I would ever share with chat would be "maybe" the last 4 digits of a cc used for a recent deposit. But never the full account number.

I have no problems with this as long as they don't ask for cvv2, they already have the card details from the deposit except cvv2 stored. But first and last 4 digits should be enough.

As long as we talk about a "https" chat.

I agree with previous posts, I would feel uncomfortable telling all my credit card info on chat. Last 4 digits should work.. I'm really paranoid with this things

Well it doesnt matter if it's secure (https) or normal , the point here is that first of all "the software provide of the chat system", "the logs", "the hosts where they save the logs" etc..

But anyway I will ask from my bank a new card it's cheap only cost 50€ (with desired image,Pamela anderson!)

Well any time I'm buying something over the phone, I give these numbers which are required for the purchase. I don't see anything wrong with it.

There's not much to do with the 16 digits on a creditcard. You also need expire date and cvv2. And noone will ask for cvv2 in a chat because it's not legal to store it for them. If they do their merchant will cut them off as soon as they confirms it. Stop being so paranoid about card numbers. There's thousands of people already having all your details if you shop around with a creditcard for some years... and I can assure you paddypower is one of the most secure places having your card details.

The people you are chatting with are low wage employees, that you know absolutely nothing about. Will the casino help you retrieve funds if somehow the emploees are intending to use your info illegally? I think not. It is pretty easy to be unconcerned when you have not ever dealt with identity theft, IMO. I trust companies I deal with regularly like Sears, Penneys, Walmart, etc. They will back you up and work with the law. Will all on line casinos?

Some casinos and sportsbooks have good high paid employes at the live chat. Some casinos even have the owners answering questions. So what you say is not true.

And, IF someone use your credit card it's not really your problem. The bank is the one who will have to struggle with issuing the chargebacks. So why be so paranoid. Every single charge must be proved to be you who initiated it. Otherwise just don't pay it. That's the way I do and think.
