    First Time Trying To Highroll

Ok so after I posted that 400% bonus thread I started thinking "what if I just deposit my own money in the amount of the bonus." I originally was going to deposit 100.00 to get 500.00 to play with. I wanted to see what it felt like making 5.00 spins on a slot machine.

Well after spending a few days thinking about it I got my wife's blessing to deposit 400.00 into highnoon so I can do MY version of highrolling. Each spin felt like it was taking a piece of my soul. I lowered my bet to a 1.25 as I felt my grasp on reality slipping. Anyway long story short hit 285.30 on a roll. Was so excited I had to come post. I already put the screenshot in the low rolling picture thread but I couldn't contain my excitement and had to post an explanation here.

I know it's not true highrolling but it felt good overall getting to see what having a decent bankroll to play with felt like. Still not sure if playing like this is for me though. The small 25.00 - 50.00 deposit rarely seem to last long enough but I also don't feel as much pressure to win.

There is no doubt that having the proper cash bankroll for what ever level it is your comfortable playing at, and not taking a back breaking bonus, will enhance your sessions.

Should you click spin at that extremely rare perfect millisecond and hit a Jackpot, it would be sad if you couldn’t collect the entire amount having to jump through bonus hoops first. The slot machine doesn’t know you’re playing with a max cash-out bonus. Let’s face it; bonuses have evolved along with the T&C’s to eliminate the Advanced Player. Bonuses today have become for the most part a low roller draw and the thrill of an illusionary bankroll. I always found walking into a casino that just trying to overcome the inherit house odds alone was hard enough. Imagine how much the house edge would improve if I was forced to wager a minimum amount of bets before I could cash out.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that having a bigger bankroll means your chances of winning are any better. Yes, proper bankroll along with proper money management will improve your gaming sessions. Of course if you hit something big it becomes much bigger with large bets. But, the bottom line is the bigger bankroll player just could afford to lose more.

Thinking a bigger bankroll is better, is usually the sign of a rookie who starts gambling with one or five dollar bets, and eventually over the years, twenty-five dollar bets become boring. If you trust my judgment I would suggest staying with your small deposits. Bigger is better when you win, but losing is way bigger when you lose. At the end of a year figure out what you would have lost if you made the same amount of bets with $5.00 dollars instead of $1.00. I bet you could consider yourself hitting 5 random jackpots with your savings.

If I ever had it to do all over again, I would have concentrated on poker much earlier in my life, and for gaming entertainment never leave the micro limits. Most of the bus loads of retirees unloading everyday at land based casinos and playing nickel slot machines are a lot smarter then all of us, and know how to enjoy gambling.

I totally agree. The only bonuses I ever take are the 'first deposit match' bonuses, and only then if I can't be bothered contacting CS to have them remove it.

In fact, I get a lot of (admittedly childish) pleasure when I enter the cashier of a particular casino to make a deposit, only to have that live chat box appear with a happy-go-lucky Rep asking if they'd like me to check if I have any bonuses outstanding..
I usually lead them on by saying yes; the conversation is normally something along the lines of:

REP: "Good news! we can offer you 50% on your next deposit, up to £100!"

    ME: "Really??!!"

REP: "Yes, T&Cs apply [click here to read them]..."

    ME: "That's great!"

REP: "Yes, would you like me to add it for you?"

ME: "No thanks, but it's still great!"

    ME: [Closes window]

    REP: (probably)

Teehee. I like to amuse myself

It's ok to highroll once in a while but honestly I hope you get 'bitten' along the way as it will deter you frommaking such bold attempts in future. These things are not for the faint-hearted and could well make you become addicted.

In my opinion this is an unbelievable post!!!

As long as there are no trappy max cashout rules and you read the terms and conditions properly then bonuses are a wonderful thing. I like to use what I call the OPM method - playing with other peoples money.

Why highroll on your own cash when you can do it on someone else's?

Hey it's a free country and bonuses are not for everyone. But KK seems to do OK on them .

I say highroll on a bonus but lowroll on your own money. That way you get the best of both worlds.

It wasn't so much that I thought having a bigger bankroll would be better than my normal small bankroll, it was more so that I wanted to experience what it was like to have a large bankroll to make crazy bets with. I went in knowing that I would probably lose the money, talked to my wife about it, knew we could handle losing the money, knew all bills were paid, and knew our savings account was intact.

I might be new to the online gambling thing but I'm not new to life, and have a decent bit of common sense. At least I think I do

On a side note: Ended up switching to blackjack a few more times and turned the money into 1K (most big hits were slots though). Put in a ACH request for 800 and left the rest in to play with.

side note: this post wasn't meant to be rude. just explaining my actions....
side note x2: excuse grammar and spelling.....

Well argued. I just hate the thought of hitting a monster right at the start of a session (when I'm tied to a bonus) and then trying to get through the WR before losing the lot.
Happened to me recently on Mr Green - I deposited £150, was given £150 = £300, then peaked at £3000 before losing half of that trying to play through. Irritated the life out of me, but nothing I could've done about it.

You deposited $400 of your own money and withdrew $1000. You might not have withdrawn on a $20 deposit when you had $50, because of the ways fees eat it.

$5 spins are pretty big on a $400 deposit, especially at RTG, although some slots are lower variance than others.

I like to take some bigger spins when I'm ahead, but it's hard to lower your bet size after you lose.

If you get $100 ahead, say I'm gonna spin $50 worth of spins at $3, and either go up $100 (or plus), or quit when you lose $50. If you win $200, change that bracket to I'm gonna go up $100, or lose $100.

    You get my drift.

It is actually possible at most casinos to make a withdrawal while ahead and leave some to play on. That was a really good piece of advice I got from a member here, think it might have even been Diamond Geezer.
