I was going to tell a long drawn out story when I came up with my thread title, but then I got lazy. So long story short: It seems being in the united states isn't the best thing right now if you enjoy online gaming. I'm hoping someone will post in here saying "no no you're wrong, play to your hearts content."

I love the fact that I don't have to drive the 2 hours to get to a land based casino. Wake up, roll over, and I can be online begging the wheels to my slot machine to show me some love.

I'm new to the online gaming scene and after reading a number of post on this site I've become saddened. Is it really true that online gaming for united states players is a bad idea right now? I'm itching to put more money in but after reading through the post tonight I'm kind of scared. Would suck if I can't continue, because this whole new process of gambling online has been fun.

My advice ... keep your money in your pocket. There are just too many hurdles to clear. Even if you make your deposit, play, and happen to win, cashing out is a bear, even with reputable casinos. So many players with money tied up in accounts seized by the feds is a clear indication that the current atmosphere is anything but USA friendly -- especially for newbies.

I live 6 hours from a B&M casino, and I love my online gambling, but I don't play online anymore.

If you DO decide to plow ahead with this, please stick with Accredited Casinos (there's a link at the top of the forum caledl CM Casinos) -- you'll have a better chance of actually getting your money if you withdraw. You'll find there's not much choice as to software variety, most have tossed us out. Please read and heed the T&C (terms and conditions) wherever you sign up, especially pay attention to any T&C for bonuses you take. Be ready with copies of your DL, a recent utility bill, and a copy of your debit/credit card (if you use one), so you can email them to casino cashier for ID verification. (I would suggest blacking out the middle card #s and your verification # on the back of your CC.)

I strongly recommend not using a household banking account for anything related to online gambling. If your card is overcharged/double charged with sometimes elusive 'pending' charges that later fall off, or if your bank freezes your card and/or your account, you could end up in a financial bind.

If you win and withdraw there's a chance there may be some nail biting... processors change, get seized, disappear, so the casinos have to fund another and payments are delayed. Right now, it seems that waiting weeks is common. Patience, and trust.... both are wearing rather thin among players these days...

I second everything Mousey said.... I've played online over 10 years and haven't deposited a dime in months. Just not worth it. I play tournaments and that's it!

Thank you for the advice. The fact that I've been having so much fun with it prompted me to do some digging/reading today.

What I've learned:
Texas penal code actually states that it is a defense to prosecution if gambling in Texas is done in a private place with personal money and all participants have equal chance of winning/losing. So I guess now the big hurdle would be getting paid after winning, which would suck if hitting big then to be told I can't get paid. All in all thanks for the advice guys.

(2) no person received any economic benefit other than
personal winnings; and
(3) except for the advantage of skill or luck, the

Cleveland, I don't think I'd be worried about going to jail over gambling from the comfort of your own home. Mind you jails are big business in Texas, so they might jail everyone and have some fat cat government contracts to build said jails.

Laws are different in many parts of the world, but US players are paying through the nose in fees, assuming the wallet they are using is not seized or fly-by-night or outright fraudulent.

As a Canadian, the exchange fees eat a fair percentage for me. But I live in Ontario the Good where the government regulated casinos pay back around 82 percent on the penny slots, and they don't give us any free drinks!

If you want to sit down on a Friday night and put in $50 - $100 prepared to lose, and potentially prepared to lose even if you win, jump right in. Do not be surprised by delays.

The accredited casinos that accept US players are mostly doing their best to accommodate US players. I have no faith in any US serving ewallet, so I'd only trust them to deposit, not to withdraw. Don't be afraid to go to support and ask about your withdrawal options should you win.

If you have a big bankroll, save it up and go once a month to your local landbased which will probably comp you rooms and food. And stick the odd $20 or so in for a fliver on the online slots in the meantime.

That makes sense. I defiantly don't have what would be called a big bankroll lol, but will be sticking to going landbased when I get the chance and just using as you put it the odd $ 20.00 here and there online.
