    "last man standing"-slot race

"The idea is that everyone keeps playing the Gonzo's Quest video slot for as many consecutive days as they can."

I don't like this. What a thoughtless "competition" by CasinoEuro (operated by Betsson). Races like this will only promote addiction. Strange that a NetEnt casino like CasinoEuro chooses to go down to such a low level. Shame on CasinoEuro. Betsson also have these "last man standing" races sometimes. Shame on them as well.

Edit: By the way. Betsson started a similar Gonzo’s Quest race 09 December 2010. 1283 players qualified. 36 are still in the race! Thats 3 months!

    "press release" from CasinoEuro:

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Casino Euro is launching Gonzo's Treasure Hunt, a brand new casino race with a €10,000 top prize!

Gonzo's Treasure Hunt is a 'last man standing' competition that pits casino players against each other. The idea is that everyone keeps playing the Gonzo's Quest video slot for as many consecutive days as they can. The player who lasts longest will win €10,000! The race begins on Friday, March 11.

To join the race your players must win at least €3 in a single spin on Gonzo's Quest on March 11th. Every player who does this will automatically be registered for the race. Your new players should create an account with CasinoEuro before joining the race on March 11th.

To stay in the race, players must win €3 in a single spin on Gonzo's Quest every consecutive calendar day. If a player misses a day he will be knocked out of the race. The player who outlasts everyone else will win €10,000!

They're just making a profit out of the players who will join. And they are doing it badly. Hope no one joins either wins.

This is no different really than the MGS tournaments with 1000 continues. This one is the same, and it seems you don't have to play all that much each day, quit as soon as you win 3 credits.

This is more of an endurance test, and the REAL challenge is to log in EVERY day. There are many reasons why a player could miss a day, and it depends on how determined players are whether the casino makes a profit or not.

It is NOT as bad as the traditional "wager race", where the winner is the player who wagers the most, often over a short period of time.

The detail is in the terms, and if no daily DEPOSIT is required, then the best approach would be to take the BIGGEST bonus on offer, qualify, and keep it up.

Having plenty of "gadgets" available will help, so that being away or on holiday will NOT present a problem.

It's worth some analysis at least

    I agree WVM.

I get very annoyed when I see competitions like these. I am a great admirer of NetEnt, but I'm not going to play at a NetEnt casino until something is done with these "races".

I have never participated in this competition, so it has nothing to do with me being disappointed not to win.

One common gambling pattern is to do a deposit and play the balance down to zero the same day. Or to win and withdraw the same day. A player will often not have a deposit available in the casino's account over a longer period of time.

So a player will probably need to do frequent deposits (maybe daily) to participate in the race. The casinos encourages players to have a play pattern they usually would not have. This is just bad when we see that these competitions can last for months at a time.

The casinos are also using silly qualification requirements (to win min. €3 a day on a single spin). This is of course only a tool to get as many as possible to follow the contest over time.

    Shame on NetEnt.

    Shame on NetEnt.

This is really something for the "advantage player" who understands the concept, and has a big enough bankroll.

The REAL problem is where a player has followed this for months, qualifying each day, and reaches a point where they are "in so deep" that they feel OBLIGED to carry on in the hope of getting the prize in order to get back their stake. Since this contest has no defined end time, there is no way to work out how long one would have to keep on playing in order to get the prize, and if more than one player is determined, this could even last FOREVER.

Most recreational players are bound to miss a day, and will be eliminated. Many, like yourself, are savvy enough to realise right from the start that this is not for you, so you will not spend time and money on it.

The downside for such players is that any prize money allocated for these events comes from the overall budget for promotions, so in a way you will get less in the way of offers because 10K has been allocated for this race.

I would not wade straight in, but this is something I would look at, because the prize of 10K is VERY large compared to the prizes offered on traditional wager races, and the daily criteria seem modest.

There would be an optimum stake to use that would maximise the chances of hitting a 3 credit paying spin, but at the least cost. It would all depend on the paytable and variance of the game, along with any bonuses that could be claimed along the way.

Even with a thorough analysis, there are no guarantees, because you are up against other players, rather than the house. This means you CANNOT do an exact calculation for the EV of the event, only a rough estimate. The same applies to the MGS tournaments with hundreds of continues.

Yes, this is really for the advantage player, who either has a big bankroll or is disciplined enough to log in, win €3 and doesn`t play again until the next day. NetEnt and their casinos know very well that the majority of their 2123 players who has joined this race (Betssons`s Jack Hammer race) don't have such a disciplined playing style.

Considering the time you will have to spend everyday and very possible the race can last months or year, if you have a day job (not retired or housewife), better just not join this kind of "slots race".

It give me a feeling of training dogs - make you repeatly do a task every day, after a while, it becomes your habbit or trained reflection. That very much increases the chance, a player becomes addict to slots.

    Funny. Traning dogs

I did send a mail to the CasinoEuro`s CS where I told them what I think of their upcoming "race". They replied with something that looks more like a pre-written standard answer. I have only deposited at CasinoEuro a few times (last year). So I don't like it that they indicates that I need help to "control your deposit amounts" only because I'm critical to their slot tournament.

We are sorry that you feel that way about our competition.

However, I would like to inform you that we have responsible gaming limits that can help you control your deposit amounts.

You can activate this from the "Cashier" page.

I strongly disagree with the OP.

I think it's just a funny marathon game. If you are thinking that the "poor undisciplined" players will deposit everyday because they spend their deposits in the same day, it's ok for you, but I think they have a bigger problem that the casino won't solve or boost.

It's a typical marathon game. Even in games aimed for kids like Prizee.com and FarmVille, they host this kind of 'loyalty competitions' and they're just for fun.
But in this case it's even better because you can win big money!

    Yo

Yes, I do understand your view. For me, this is more like a principle thing. This has nothing to do about me feeling sorry for those who can't control themselves. If a player wants to play a slot every single day for a year, then good luck. But I will not use a casino or casino provider that so obviously has made a tournament based on a player's ability for addiction. The motive for a "race" like this has nothing to do with "fun". I like fun games and tournaments. This is just too much. But I know, its not up to me to decide what people think is funny or not. Anyway, the motive here is obvious

One of the races has now lasted for almost 100 days. 30-40 people has played (there are 30+ people left out of 1283) that slot every single day for 100 days! Hope they have a lot of fun. Crazy.
