Question for VP - Double up players

I like playing VP one handed Jacks or better with (mostly too reckless) doubling up the winning hands. Sometimes its very frustrating to lose to a dealers 3 or 4 by picking a deuce, while its a nice surprise to beat a queen or king by picking an ace. Since both kinds of situations occur very often I wonder if the double-or-nothing outcome is predetermined in the moment you press the "double" button (regardless of the picked card) with the four offered cards only being "eye-candy" or can the player pick the "right one"?

I am pretty sure that it acutally does matter what you choose.

Some people have this same question for slots bonus rounds where you choose chests or something and it does matter what you choose on those as well.

So for your question; Yes it does matter which card you choose.

I remember a while ago someone discovered a bug in the mg software where the balance was increasing before the card was chosen which would tend to suggest it was predetermined .

Personally I believe it is , which is why I never use it.

Experienced the same scenario on Slots - Increasing balance before the result was shown.

This is one of those questions that only a software providor will know the true answer to and they are not going to share this info with players anytime soon.
I think personally it is most probably pre determined. Same as say a slot spin the outcome is already fixed as soon as you click the spin button. Rest of it as said is all eye candy. Could be wrong but again only those that build and program these machines will know the answer. When I have played VP and used the double up , at times have had great runs then at others no matter what I picked it would be wrong.

Imho that white square moving around is just eye-candy.
Wouldn't matter if you picked it right, the result is still the same pre-determined one.
Just as the double-ups on video poker

    NO!!!

VP doubling up is not predetirmined. It is a 50/50 chance and the casinos have no need to fix the out come.

A good example of this is at GoWild. If you are playing higher money say 2 dollars and hit a good paying return like a full house...they won't even let you double up. If the outcome was predetirmined they would have no fear. They don't want someone to keep doubling and making alot of money off of a small wager.

The doubleup feature is real. It is a chance and not set up

Yep, 50/50 in the long run but I guess the real question was if your pick does affect the actual outcome of the double up.
At least at Microgaming it didn't...as their "bug" showed a few years back.
