Did you think gambling was easy when you first started playing?

As above, i thought it was easy. I was a noobie, didn't really know much at all & was waiting to play at Ladbrokes on the pub fruity (Abra Kebab'ra) but wanted to go in free mode first to learn the ins and outs. After about an hour, i deposited £200 as i had 'cracked' the machine, or so i thought. Played £5.00 a spin (told you i was a noobie, 5 quid on a 200 bank roll..) and after maybe the 15th spin, i got that automatic select where it'll pick the reel & match it up, and it matched me up with the jackpot. Took ages for the reels to line up but my balance was now £5,000! Withdrew, no questions asked & was in my bank within a few days.

With that said, it's easy to understand why i felt like gambling was easy. I had 'learned' a machine and within minutes i had £5k.

This was also after i played at a bingo site, i won £200 on slots there.

I quickly learned this wasn't the case as i started to play more & more, almost as if your name is now on a loser blacklist lol.


Any similar stories of extremely good luck with your first few games that made you think?

Most players only come back because they have had a fantastic run. The thought will always be in the back of your mind that you will and can replicate your previous good runs.

I know a lot of people that are hardcore gamblers today because of 'Beginners Luck'... Think of it this way - If several newbie players deposit $100 each and play and lose it in 5 minutes - I do not think anyone would be back for the punishment.

It is alarming in the 'Online Casino' world how many first time depositors are 'Very Lucky' ... I can give you my opinion on that, but then again, it would be a conspiracy theory.

My first experiences with internet casinos were back in the days when Microgaming casinos would give you from $10 to $25 no deposit to sign up. I'd sign up, play, win $100 cash out, get paid. The crowning achievement was cashing out $4,000 from one of those measly $10 ND sign up bonuses. Of course once you go back to the well and risk your own money the great luck had evaporated and it just wasn't as fun to deposit $50 or $75 and lose it in the blink of an eye.

Always easy to win the first go around, once they got the hook set you're on the line for them to reel you in.

When I started USA could play. I would play at poker sites and Party Casino was one of my favorite. If I hit and I usually did once a night I could withdraw and would be in bank acct within a blink of an eye. Ahhh the good ole days. Now you have to wait to get paid and I think it gives them time to reset the percentage settings on ya. Have ya ever noticed that after a cash out and you start playing again the casino will do an update before you start playing. Maybe its a conspiracy theory too. But its one that makes sense lol. Maybe that's why we don't get paid in min but in days. Frustrated USA player can you tell. It's Just not the same as it was years ago. Too many things to worry about now. How to deposit, frozen bank accounts, will bank accept wire. I miss the days when you could push a button money was in account and you could actually enjoy the money you just won. It felt like a win. I think that's a major problem for us USA players now we wait and wait and it takes the fun out of it. You want to win a huge jackpot but then again you think in the back of your head 12,000 random jackpot how many weeks will it take, how am I gonna get it to bank, will I get the money. It's just not the same. I use to love playing 5, 10 and bigger at party casino I would make a 8,000 hit and it wouldn't phase me I cash out some right away and go back and play. Now hmmmm only at one casino did I play that big and that was only because of there rep. If I bet hands that big anywhere else it's because I hit- then I wait for the cash out and then after I get it I will play the money I left in casino again at bigger amounts. Just not the same. Tax me I welcome it. Make me pay I don't mind. Hell I've paid thousands in fee's to some other country. I would never mind giving those fee's to my own. They all gave away free money and there were tons of websites pointing people in the right direction. Then there were the 100/100 wager 2x etc. that destroyed those casinos that were unprepared. It would be interesting to see a list of those that crashed and burned...

I played the 9 line slots like Sunquest and Carnival etc. I won $18500 in 3 days of play. I was shocked and amazed. Just dazzled and really bewildered. I never won that much money in my life. And I was hitting jackpots 3 spins a row, like $900 each. It was crazy. I thought the game was broken for sure.

here's the rub.. the wins were so easy, I didn't notice when to stop. I thought I would at $20k.. boy was I in for it. I lost a coupe thousand betting $45 a spin, and it was ALL down hill from that. In about 6 hours that $18k was now about $3k. I withdrew a loser in my mind.

The next day I deposited $1000 to try again. As my crazy "luck" would have it, i won another $10k that morning playing the same slots. BUT, alas, my will was broken again, and 3 hours later it was gone as well... I even called GA because I thought I had a gambling problem.. whatever.

So, lesson here is this. If you win big, GO HOME. cash it in, take your win and leave for a WHILE, don't come back the next day, go AWAY. Uninstall the casino, tell them to block you for a while, hell months if you have to, just get your money. It will plague you with guilt not to cashout your wins. It has me.

Thanks for the replies, interesting comments. Quite scary actually, and even more so when there's so many factors involved into getting paid, and that's not even including winning! Most times i've never wanted to win big as i thought if it were too big, they'd never pay.
