This should be OK. It is an extension to Windows, and can be installed in XP. I have had to install it to get many things to work, such as catch-up TV services provided by the UK major networks.
I am also surprised that this gadget is on the OFFICIAL Microsoft site, yet is aimed primarily at US players of "US friendly casinos" in it's current stage of development. Microsoft could find themselves "aiding and abetting" illegal gambling by US players, just as the PROCESSORS were before UIGEA, when there were NO laws making the TRANSACTIONS unlawful.
Neteller had to face charges related to processing prior to UIGEA, even though Neteller did not offer games of chance, it offered the FACILITIES to take part in them.
This gadget could disappear from the official Microsoft site, so grab a copy whilst you can.
It will no doubt be available elsewhere in due course if this were to happen.
