video poker pay table question

Just curious as to what people think about a casino changing their paytable on a video poker game? The game is Double Jackpot, 4 aces with a K, Q, OR J used to pay 800 credits and now it only pays 600 credits. I'm not sure exactly when the change occurred, but it has been in the last week or so, maybe 2 weeks. I haven't noticed any other paytable changes in any of the other video poker games, just this one. I have played at this casino for at least 5 years and have never seen a paytable change before. The preview of the game (in the video poker lobby) still shows a screenshot of the the 4 aces with a Q paying 800 credits, but once you get into the game it says 600. Misleading in my eyes.

I would assume that the casino is trying to make up a shortfall in profits by cutting the paytable--which would make me a little concerned. In the land-based casino world, generally the casinos with the higher videopoker paytables have the better playing slots--at least that's what i've read. I would also wonder if the rtp on the slots have been lowered.
I have never received 4 aces with a k, q or jack on double jackpot before, so not sure how frequently this hand appears. What casino is this?

Like anything else, it's a buyer's market. A casino operator may change payout tables like a restaurateur changes menus. I don't always eat at the same restaurant of even shop in the same stores. If you shop around, you might be surprised to find a more attractive pay table for Double Jackpot as well as other VP games you like.

The casino is Inet...one of my all time favorite casinos. I emailed support when I noticed the change and the reply was that he assumes it was a recent development (???) and he believes it only affected the higher denominations on this game. I didn't ask why it was changed, just when and were any other games changed as well. I'm a little upset over the fact that the screenshot of the game in the video poker lobby shows a win with 4 aces and a Q paying 800 credits...when in fact that isn't what it pays (anymore).

One of the reasons that I play at Inet is because they have the more "attractive" pay tables for video poker. Double Jackpot is one of my favorite video poker games, and I quite frequently get those 4 aces with a K, Q, or J...oh well...guess I'll have to "shop around" again.

The basic rule when checking out video poker machines for the payouts is to first look at what the Full House and Flush payout is first. Most common like Jacks or Better is what they call a 9/6 pay table. The Full House pays 9 to 1 and the flush pays 6 to 1. I've even seen the Full House pay 10 to 1. When playing more exotic games like Double Jackpot, you usually sacrifice the Full House and Flush to a lesser payout of 8/5 (8 to 1 for Full House and 5 to 1 for flush) which in turn, the reward for that sacrifice is getting $800.00 dollars for 4 aces with a J/Q/K. In addition lets say in a Jacks or Better game you get $125.00 for any four of a kind. In Double Jackpot you only get $100.00 for four of a kind from 2 to 10, but $200.00 for J/Q/K, $400.00 for J/Q/K w/J to A and 400.00 for 4 Aces with less then a Jack.

If you were to look at Double Double Jackpot (one of my favorites) you only get $5.00 for 2 pair along with the lesser 8/5 payout. But once again things change drastically for the 4 of a kind pay outs of all denominations.

Wherever your playing and saw on Double Jackpot the payout go from 800 to 600 for 4 aces plus, immediately stop playing that game. I would also check out the other video poker games for recent changes. If all are reduced one way or the other, and these games are your cup of tea, it's time to change casinos.

I once years ago saw only one of the payouts for let it ride get cut almost in half. I complained to the casino, and they apologized with some lame excuse about what happened and put it back where it belongs.

It's a good idea to always check payouts before starting any session. Many people also think land based casinos poker games all have the same payouts, this is far from the facts. I've seen the same game Jacks or Better in the same land based casino, one with 9/5 and another with 8/5. Many of the same poker games with same software at different online casinos also have different payout structures.

This is not cheating by any means from the casino. They offer a game, if you don't like the payouts don't play them. They're not going to send you an e-mail telling you they reduced some payouts. If you don't check for payouts how could you ever know who is offering the best payouts?

Inet has always had the proper paytable for their VP and Im shocked that they would reduce it like this.

Stay away from that version at Inetbet and make sure you check the other paytables on other games just in case.

Personally, I think its wrong to offer lesser payouts on higher denominations, but its the casinos choice.....just means any serious VP player will run a mile, but maybe thats the idea?

Its weird Ive seen 2 posts about Inetbet today - this one and earlier when a players free chip winnings were declined for betting more than $1 a spin (the $5 new game chip). Hope its not a bad sign as they have been a great outfit.

Thats exactly what I was thinking also. I wonder when they will change the paytables on the other video poker games? So far, that is the only video poker game that I found where the paytables have changed.
