Why did I have to give it ALL back?

    Hello All,
For the most part I feel that I am responsible when it comes to online gaming. I don't spend more than I can afford and I don't ever try to chase losses. I can usually cashout and will do so even if only up a few hundred. On Friday I made a $25 deposit into Cherry Red and actually got it up to $3700!!! It was a different feeling - I felt like I was on fire and nothing could stop me. Why didn't I have the strength to hit that withdraw button? I usually have the restraint to do so and am beating myself up because I ended up putting it all back!! Makes me so sick to think about it!!!! After I did this I took a break and didn't go on the computer for the rest of the weekend - I didn't want to chase my loss and knew I would feel even worse for that. If anyone has any advice or experiences - I would love to hear them. Thanks so much!!!

I think most of us have did that at some point or another.

One thing another member reminded me of is that is possible to cashout PART of your winnings, leaving a balance to play with.

You can even do it more than once in a single play session.

Set yourself a withdrawal goal when you deposit. That goal is individual, and may vary on the size of your deposit. Let's say you deposit $100, and your goal is $1K or bust. You hit $1300 right off the bat. Withdraw $1K. Continue playing with the $300, if you get your balance up to $1.5K, then withdraw another grand.

You get my drift. And keep this last session in mind next time you sit down. That goes a long way to helping you meet your playing goals.

It is an easy mindset to fall into that this money is the "casino's" money you are playing with. Once you have met any WR's if you played with a bonus, it is YOUR money.

Try not to beat yourself up too much. You lost a deposit that you made prepared to lose it, and hopefully had a heck of an exciting ride during the same period.

Do you have anyone in real life (not an internet forum) to talk about it?

Feeling the shame of admitting this in person could help you to cashout next time.

Also, do NOT deposit for a while.

I have been there and done the exact same thing, even have the footprints where i kicked my own ass for playing and being stupid at the time and not cashing out. Its a normal feeling, a sick feeling but normal to feel this way.

There is a certain high emotion you get when you have a balance up past the point of , where you feel like "well i never could play this game at that big of a bet before and who knows i might make my balance even bigger". or i will just play for awhile longer and cashout at this amount, when you get to that amount it goes down and down till your at 0, checking how many comps you might have.

I know it wont give you much comfort, but you are not alone, this happens often among gamblers...............laurie

I think most of us are familiar with this phenomena..
You could try to cashout a part of your winnings next time.
A cashout doesn't have to be the end of your session, just cashout half, or whatever you like and play on with the remaining balance, try to build that up again.
This way you won't be tempted to wager much higher because of those 4 figures in the left upper corner of your screen..

edit: Damn, 4 replies when I was typing, lots of helpful ppl here!!

Hiya: Well, you actually only, LOST, $25. The rest of what you made would have been profit. But, the fact is that your bank acct. is down only -$25.

WOW, You lost $25 gambling on the Internet? You need help, hehehehe
I am not laughing at you, i am laughing with you....

Every single person on this board has done what you just did, and some of us, more than once, and some of us, it was a lot more than $25 as the initial deposit. At one point or another, all of us are Idiots.

Since you asked, here it is. imhop, You take the deposit amount, and multiply it by 2 or 3, for table games, or have a set target for slots. When either of those happen, You withdraw All, or Most of the profit. This way, if you end up now giving back the rest, you still made a net profit of 2-3 times your deposit. Set the target. Type it up, "Withdraw at $400", as example, and tape it to the top of the monitor. Follow instructions. Good Luck.

Don't beat yourself up too bad...as you can see there are many here that have done the same thing..including me! I just did it over the weekend...playing a Rival casino...made the WR and decided it could only get better Obviously, it didn't! I know better...was at $800 and my cashout would have been $1000 but I just couldn't get it there. (I know I should have cashed out part and played with the rest). I chalk it up to another "greed" lesson learned

Been there done that. I think what really happens is you're not used to having that kind of money to gamble with. You, like others, probably figured here is a chance to really gamble and win big. You did and it didn't work out. The next time you turn a small sum into several thousand I'll bet you think differently. I won over $40,000 from Cherrry Red on a $100 deposit, over 3 random jackpots. I spent $8000 of it back due to reversible cashouts. I'm glad I collected the bulk of the money.

I think you hit the nail on the head there.
You just don't fully realise how much money you have at that point.
As long as its in your account its credits, it becomes money at the moment its in your bank or webwallet.
When I played back my €1600.- win at Roxy Palace a year ago I only realised a few hours afterwards what I just did.
Sixteenhundred euro's.. when still playing I just didn't fully realise how much I had won.
Upping your bets is so easy with such a balance, especially when you're in a winning mood..
