    Well Done-- English Harbour Group

The English Harbour Group of Casinos (all 7 of them) are offering a promotion to help out the devistated folks in Haiti.

They will match 50% of vip points earned by the player for donations to Haiti for the next week.

In addition if a player wants to contribute more of their VIP points to Haiti they will also do that for you.

This is a win win situation for both the casino and Haiti. The casino should attract some additional betting and Haiti gets some cash.

    Good Job English Harbour Group!!

Tacky TACKY Tacky tacky --- I don't think this is truly appropriate.

Think about it - WHAT IS HARBOR giving away really?

Sounds like an advertising piggyback on a catastrophe.

You hit the nail on the head with the above statement (bolded)
it does sound like a tacky marketing plan to get people to play at there casino, what happened to just making a donation without all the BS
    I gave up gambling,
Now all i ever do is make mind bets,
You never bet any real money you only bet in your mind.
The results are fairly good, ive only lost my mind 5 times so far this month

Well, I don't agree that it is tacky. They have players that play and earn VIP points, and they are offering a very generous match to aid the victims of Haiti.

Every little bit helps this devestated country, and I don't think any business that offers additional help should be slammed.

    Thanks Jaz
I applaud any casino that at least recognizes the needs in Haiti. Sure it's in their best interest to promote giving from a marketing perspective but so what! The Haitians still win. People can call it tacky but when I see children and babies with broken bones not set for days I just don't give a damn if it's tacky as long as they get help.

OK Maybe I'm wrong... But bare with me on this ok?

The Casino is not providing ANY monetary "value" to this.

VIP points do NOT cost the casino anything to "create" - correct?

Is the casino creating a promo using the "implied" value of something that isn't monetary - in order to create MORE play - in order to round up more "implied" value of something that isn't monetary - to give something to people.

In otherwords - PLAY WITH US AND WE'LL DONATE... Get more playthrough and you will get more VIP points - so please - feel free to keep depositing to get more VIP points to donate.

Oh - and by the way - if you want to give more of these "implied"value things away - feel free to DEPOSIT more to make more of them - OK?

I don't like it because it's not straight forward donating - like HERE on CasinoMeister - and it appears to be a Promotion to Deposit - and not something for Relief.

    MAYBE - I'm wrong????

I dunno - it just hit me wrong.

I don't play there - and maybe I'm missing what VIP points are... But aren't they kinda like what you get for Playthrough or Depositing?

It doesn't seem like charity. It seems like Promotion to me.

Maybe I'm just not getting it - because I don't know what VIP points are exactly... OK?

VIP points are comp points. They have a cash value, and the casino is offering to MATCH at a rate of 50 percent those points earned. This will be a cash donation from the casino's coffers to aid Haitian relief, costing the player nothing from their end. They are also allowing players to donate their points to the fund instead of cashing them out.

I'm not familiar totally with EH's VIP scheme as to how many points are earned for play, but I know that even as a low roller at other casinos I might earn as much as $10 or more in a week of online play, depending on how my luck is running.

Sure, the casino will undoubtedly receive some benefit from this in terms of tax breaks, good publicity, and possibly even increased play from players. But the bottom line is that they are still donating money they do not have to to a country and people that desperately need aid.

Not a great deal different than the hairdresser offering $1 donation for every haircut. Perhaps I will choose that hairdresser over another because of it, but I was going to get a haircut anyway, and if it is my regular salon, I was going there anyway.

Hope that clarifies why I applaud English Harbour's initiative.

Heres an idea, why dont you just take what you will be depositing at EH and donate it to casinomeisters fund, that way it will earn double,
pokerstars are doing the same, they will match any donation,
