    Newest Online Deposit Rip Off

Well folks here is the newest deposit ripoff some casinos are adopting.

When you go to make a deposit at the casino an ewallet box pops up instead of the usual list of deposit options. It took me by surprise the first time I saw it. When I was finally able to get to the the credit card deposit area and put my credit card number through the system it immeadiately referred me to the ewallet deposit page again. When I asked what was going on I was told my Master Card deposit didnt go through. When I checked with Master Card they reviewed my file in detail and in fact had not ever received any withdrawl request let alone refused any.

I then went to Ewallet and some customer support person there spilled her guts about what a great deal they had with the casino in quesition. The casino was receiving a spiff from Ewallet for every deposit it put thru Ewallet.

    So net net.:
The casino lies to you(fraud) about having tried your card at a credit card company.
Asks you to use EWallet and gets paid by Ewallet for the referral if you do
Saves the 3% they would have been charged by a card company like master card
Forces you the consumer to pay the outrageous charges Ewallet charges you for using their service.

    Nice Huh!!
Note Some of the casinos believed to be judged the most reliable are using this gimmic to rip you off. When you question them about it they refuse to give you any answer.
    Be careful out there

Canbet pulled a similar stunt on me recently, but I didn't bite Didn't need to, I'm not in the US.

I used to deposit by credit card & Neteller.

One day, the credit card option was gone, completely vanished. Later, it came back, but with a new logo. It was still a credit card deposit option, but "powered by Moneybookers". It was complete BULLSHIT, it was a disguised MONEYBOOKERS deposit option. Support tried to solve the "technical issues", and when they did, the "scam" was revealed in all it's glory.

I followed the instructions, but it appeared to be telling me I could use nothing more than my EMAIL ADDRESS to authorise a deposit from my credit card on record Normally, even though a card might be "on record", you need to type in the CCV code, and formerly at Canbet, my "Verified by VISA" password. Both levels of security now apparently replaced by typing in my email address. I tried £100, and went as far as I dared. Despite what I was told, I NEVER got a chance to type in security codes, I hit "deposit", after which I was told I would THEN get the familiar screens to type in the card details, and DID I HELL I got a screen REQUIRING me to AGREE to the "Moneybookers terms and conditions", AND to create a "Moneybookers" password - WTF - the card is in "Verified by VISA", what's bloody wrong with THAT system, probably better than my email address and a "Moneybookers password" in verifying it is ME using the card.
At this point I gave up, since you CANNOT deposit there by credit card any longer UNLESS you use this new "powered by Moneybookers" system. Oddly, you can still WITHDRAW by credit card - directly

This has to be a similar thing, Moneybookers are PAYING Canbet to refer new customers to them, those, it seems, who usually deposit by card, and who now MUST do so via Moneybookers.

As I said, it didn't work, since I also use Neteller, and Canbet have not made any changes to this (yet).

Result, I make FAR FEWER deposits at Canbet, since the "float" on my credit card is no longer available for use there. Canbet have also wiped the owing reversals of deposits back to the card, since I can no longer redeposit them back to them.

If I DID use the "powered by Moneybookers" card deposit options, what about withdrawals - would this money disappear into the bowels of Moneybookers, rather than ending up back on my card.

Canbet did this deal with Moneybookers, but it looks like this Ewallet has done similar deals with casinos. As with the Ewallet deal, I noted that Moneybookers seemed to charge for "powered by Moneybookers" card deposits, whereas DIRECT card deposits incurred no additional charges.

BOTH seem to be designed to shift the 3% charge from the casino to the player, and will ONLY work where the player has severely limited options, making US players a prime target.

    Thanks for asking

From some of the emails I have been getting it sounds like this is a new trend and not limited to just one casino so it's probably unfair to single and individual casino out if many are doing it.

I will say this---My problem was with one of the most repected casinos on the internet headquarterd in the UK.

I did receive a letter back from them where they explained the reason for pushing ewallet was because US residents were having problems making deposits via credit card. This is total B.S The US congress has put on hold any restrictions on financial institutions from making payments to gambling sites for 6 months while they decide on legalizing internet gambling in the US
