Very surprised at Club World's bureaucratic cash out requirements.

They demand scanned colour copies of identification documents, as well as information pertaining to not just Club World but all three Club World group casinos.

First off, who has access to the kind of equipment necessary in order to email a scanned 'colour' copy of ID? As it is, most people have to jump through hoops for that.

I guess I just expected more from a highly regarded CM casino.

Am I being unfair?

Anyone who cashes out at any casino online should be prepared to produce ID docs. This is standard operating procedures. And it shouldn't be a hassle for you at all. Once you've scanned a copy of your passport etc., you can use it for every casino you play at. It's not like you have to make separate scans for each place. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most everyone has a scanner or a printer with a scan function. It's really nothing to complain about so yeah, you're being unfair.

I would expect this from a highly regarded casino.

Someone on here once suggested that, if you didn't have access to a scanner, a good quality close up digital picture of your passport/drivers licence will often suffice; I've used this and it does. Most phones have 3 MP+ cameras nowadays, you can shoot and send in one go...

After going through the documentation wringer at Heroes Casino a year ago, I saved files of:
  • Digitally scanned Driver License (in color)
  • Digitally scanned Passport (in color)
  • PDF file of front of credit card
  • PDF file of back of credit card
  • Snapshot of my Quicktender personal information page
  • PDF file of my Cable (utility) bill showing both mailing address and street address (updated every three months)
  • PDF file of my electrical utility bill (updated every three months)
I have these saved and ready to go whenever a casino requests them. FedEx/Kinkos can digitally scan in color your driver license and/or passport and save it to a CD for you to save to your computer. My copier at work converts copied documents into PDF files when sending the copies via email (Kinkos can do this too.) I save all files to their own desktop folder. The only thing that I don't have covered is when a casino has their own verification or faxback form to complete (as Club World does.) Some casinos (such as Doyles) require a phone call to verify your account, which is difficult for me with my hearing impairment. In any case, you have to be overly prepared for any documentation requests a casino may require, short of blood and DNA samples.:D

With all due respect, CM, while I trust your judgment and apologize if I am being unfair with them, I have been playing online for over four years, so I am well aware that verifying identification is standard operating procedure at online casinos - I had a bitch of a time doing this with Bodog, but once I did, it was smooth sailing. Guess I just need to be more patient. ;)

But honestly, color scans? Color scan of my credit card, too? I have B/W scans that are perfectly legible - nobody else has rejected them. But whatever. I will obey. :D

Thanks for this -

I have all my ID scanned ready to go. I rescan a util bill every 3 months. So when i need to send docs its done in a few seconds. Scanners dont cost the earth and all scanners scan in color ;) If you dont have a scanner you can get the docs scanned for a few $ or at a libary or some place similar. Only time it annoys me is if they re- request docs. Buts thats rare.

Surely if you can afford to gamble, then you can afford to purchase a scanner. Its a bit like going away on an expensive holiday and not been able to afford a suitcase. I wasn't even aware you could get a black and white scanner?!

My scanner cost me 20 and I purchased it in 2002 and it still works perfectly.

As mentioned by Westland Bowl, try and be proactive and have all the scans done prior to joining a casino. So when the casino requests doucments you can respond immediately. This way the ID process instead of feeling like a hurdle, becomes routine.

The problem is the ever changing requirements. This makes some players feel the process is overdone in some places. Someone who has had their current stored document files accepted for 4 years suddenly gets a "not good enough" for the first time from a casino, and think this one casino has therefore set out to make the process difficult.

I am not sure what is meant by them wanting information about all three casinos, but maybe they are doing a single verification that will cover the player for cash-ins at any of the other properties, rather than requesting separate sets of documents each time.

It is usually HARDER to get a black & white copy than a colour copy now, since colour is the standard, even for the cheapest device.

MY problem is that although I have a scanner, Epson no longer support the software that connects it to the PC, so the scanner works fine, but the PC just ignores it.
I have therefore been using a 2Meg Pixel digital camera, close-up shot in good daylight, and no flash. This has produced documents that have so far not been refused by an online casino.

Casinos often reject documents for "not being clear/legible", but are they not being entirely honest, for a black & white copy is just as "clear" or "legible" as a colour copy would be with the same pixel resolution. In fact, photographers often consider a black & white picture as being "clearer" than the equivalent colour photo, because the lack of colour makes for a better clarity of detail. This may not be so with image files though, as the encoding caters for colour, whether it is present or not.

The above request is not uncommon for the PRESENT requirements for a new player, but is CONSIDERABLY more than what was routinely requested from players 4 years ago.

4 years ago, I was not even required to provide ANY documentation when using Neteller only for my deposits; it was only the use of a card that prompted security checks.

Well, lol, you know you're getting old when you start complaining that things aren't like they used to be... :D

I have been in a bad mood lately due to reasons having absolutely nothing to do with casinos or gambling or anything, so there is THAT.

Setting that aside, I found out how cheap this scanning process is now - went to Fedex/Kinkos and got all my documents color scanned for $3.00! AND she gave me the CD-R for free. I was even MORE surprised about all that. LOL

So again, my apologies for griping about a casino that from all accounts here is actually one of the better RTG ones. :)

Scanners are also VASTLY cheaper than they were years ago. I paid a fair bit for my Epson, but now you can get those "all in 1" scanner, printer, fax, copier machines for less. I am considering one of these for my new PC, but want to wait for my old printer to finally die. I had two printers, one died a while ago, but it was Lexmark, cheap machines, but VERY expensive ink cartridges. The Canon range have had good reviews, and I got one for my Mum's place, for where I once bought a PC from my winnings:D

Sounds like a case of an industry going from operating in the wild west to finally growing up. That's always a difficult transition to make for the people who have experienced the "party years." ;)

My 59.95 Lexmark.....

My Lexmark was cheap and when you scan you can set advanced options to black and white or color. I have stored my DL and the other form of ID and send these same documents everytime I am requested to.

I scan them to "paint" and they attach with no problem.
