Citizen of banned country living abroad

First off, this thread might belong in the U.S. section, but I think the issue could be valid for anyone in the same situation but a different country (though I'm not sure any other countries are banned from online casino's.)

I'm a U.S. citizen living abroad. I have a bank account with the country I'm living in as well as a residence. Because I have more choices with casino's which ban players from the U.S. I would like to put my first online gambling deposit into one of these casino's.

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with an online casino's verification features in this situation. My initial thoughts are that the casino's would place the most weight on physical location (IP address) and bank location. I'm still worried that when I'm asked for my ID in the case of a win that I might run into a problem if I present my U.S. passport or drivers license.

I suppose I could try limiting myself to casino's which are accepting U.S. players or get some sort of ID from the Philippines (sometimes easier said than done getting something with a picture within a decent time frame due to a horribly screwed up system.)

    Thanks!

Hiya: My wife of 19 yrs is from PI. I can tell you almost exactly.
    1. Neteller and money bookers do not allow anyone from the philippines to use them to deposit or withdraw from any casino. "weak anti money laundering laws" is the reason. It does not matter if you are a US citizen or not.
    2. This make it so you have fewer choices to use. My inlaws used click2pay. You would have to try different methods to see what will work.
    3. Download a Casino. E mail, or Fax over your Doc's, "Before" making a deposit, and even before they ask you to do so. Get them to, "Accept" your Docs, then go ahead and play.
    4. You need to show you are there permanetly, or semi permanety, so you don't get the message, "You can withdraw when you return to the USA". Neteller did this to me many years ago.
    5. And, if you have to, just set up everything in a name of a family member, "If you have any there", and just use their Docs.

At any rate, I will be there at the end of next month, and will be doing everything i just mentioned, and will update this post accordingly. Good luck to you.

Your situation is not much unlike Casinomeister himself; he is a US citizen living in Germany. But I don't know what he does as far as documentation goes.

I'm a US citizen living in Canada and I have a permanent address and a bank account here. I don't drive here but still have my Arizona driver's license which is valid til 2024 (!) and I use that as photo ID for the online casinos. I've sometimes had issues with it being accepted - actually one of them was at Club World where I'd been playing for years, but I contacted one of the reps here and he straightened it out for me in no time at all. Another one was Roxy Palace, but when I wrote to send in my docs I included my phone number here in Canada and they called me, confirmed some of my details and then everything was fine.

Love2WinaLot has a good point about getting your docs accepted first, that way you won't have issues later. And it might be a good idea to include your phone number so that the casinos can call and verify that you're actually where you say you are.

I guess just as with customer service anywhere, YMMV (depends on the individual casino and the moods of the customer service people you are talking to.) So far it sounds like having a U.S. ID isn't the sort of deal breaker that having a U.S. bank account or address seems to be. That's a good sign.
