Free Play Mode

Hi all,

Having spent the last few weeks playing Blackjack, I'd thought I'd play something different today. I've decided to have a play at roulette picking just colours. I don't really know the rules other than pick a number, odd or even, or a colour.

I've played the game before, having only played in 'real money' mode with Betfair. In that session I lost about £10 within a few minutes and gave up. Prior to that session, in 'free mode' I did really well on the same game.

Today I had two sessions in free mode. I'm going to play another 13 sessions in the next few weeks to try and get an idea of how the sessions play out. In both sessions the worst run of losses I had was only 5. Each session consisted of about 100 rounds. I thought this seemed to be low compared to my blackjack 'real money' sessions.

I know these games are all supposed to be random and I'm using Playtech software, so am hoping this is going to be the case in any mode I play. I am wondering if others find that when playing games in free mode, they win more often than they do in 'real money' mode?

I have often felt that free play mode was a bad thing.

Why?

In my opinion ONLY - I think that:

1) The free play MUST be on a separate server and that Freeplay MUST NOT affect REAL Play in ANY way. Especially on progressives, etc.

2) Free Play MUST be set to Real Play percentages.

Otherwise - it affects the real players in a negative way.

And it can give players the idea that percentages are set lower than they really are - giving the player the impression that they would be able to win more often than they really can.

LOL!

ANyhow - that's just my thoughts on freeplay.

Be VERY careful how you perceive the free play against the real play.

Forget about RNG roulette, Play live. or spend your roulette deposit on the slots. I think you have a better chance of winnning some cash.

Just my opinion though.

WagerWitch - Thanks for your thoughts. The thing is I did have two more 'free mode' sessions. I kind of cut off after 76 rounds in one session, having caught the mouse button with my hand by mistake. In general, winning rounds always appear to be about 50% per session.

1st session = 46/100 (wins/rounds)
2nd session = 54/100
3rd session = 36/73

I wonder if this does appear to be generous gameplay. I guess to get a better idea I could play longer sessions, but I'd only play a very maximum of 100 sessions in 'real money' mode anyway. Roughly 30 minutes maximum play.

mannie2009 - Thanks for the tip. Having read your comment I watched a live show. Even saw one of the staff in the background bring through what looked like a Mcdonalds bag of food. Live gameplay does seem more genuine. It is slower paced, but then I guess there is more chance that the game is actually live somewhere. Unless of course they are just repeating video, but I'm joking there. The dealer's comments on the chat screen go roughly in time with when they appear on screen - slight delay.

Edit: By being 'more live' I was meaning to say 'more random'. Sorry for any confusion caused

Hiya: I can post on the, "Free play", mode for Roulette, as i have recorded 10's of thousands of spins, in free mode, from roulette tester books, from the wizard of odds site, and so on. Then i compared them with results from real Casinos here in Vegas, and again with Play for Money, on the internet.

Here is the difference in the results.............are you ready...............the difference is, NONE-ZIP-NADA.

Now, i know there might be some rip off casino out there that this does not apply to. And I know there are players who will swear to god that this is not true, and that they always Win in Free mode, and always Lose when playing for money.

The Odd's in gambling, are set by the game, and the type of bet you make. Just using 50/50 win/lose, as an example, and assuming both, play for free, and real money, are the same, then what is suppose to happen when you win %70 of the bets in Free mode, and then switch to real money mode?

The Odds catch up to you. Just like they are suppose to do. You hardly ever hear of this the other way around for a simple reason. If you play for free, and only won %30 of the bets, most people just quit, and are thankfull they were not playing for real.

love2winalot - Thanks for your post, it is greatly appreciated. I guess this is true, although I sometimes have doubts when I play in 'free mode'. Perhaps I play longer sessions in this mode than in 'real money' mode and therefore maybe win more. I don't know

I hardly every use play mode when I have then I have hit some massive wins. Does this mean the software is fixed to pay out a higher % in free play ? No i dont think so. Its just when I was playing free mode I was making mad high high bets which I would never do in r/l with real cash. My play in free mode was always way way looser than in real mode. The casinos that have a good reputation dont need to fix higher payouts on free mode. Think of it this way you get a massive free roll bank - you can play longer and bigger and some of those wins will be big - the you get to thinking damn wish it was real money. So you deposit - but dont play as you did in free mode. I remember 1 time playing a RTG in free mode slots - hit somthing massive 1000s - it did make me deposit and lucky for me i won not 1000s but a few 100.It could have easily gone the other way. Take free mode for what it is but remember most times naturally you will play a helluva lot different than if it was your own green backs!

doomed4ever - That's a good point. In free mode the player does not really think of the risks, as there is no financial risk to make. In real money mode, it's a different game and so we typically are more aware of the risks. Thanks!

I prefer to play at BetVoyager due to they have a Randomness control option at all their playing mode ( real , fun and demo mode) which allow me to be protected against cheating from their side.
