Online Gaming is Better Than BM because...

Having just spent a weekend at a BM casino, I can't wait until my latest deposit hits my NetSpend account so I can play at Inetbet again. Here's why...

1) Speed of play - Having only been to a BM casino once before, I'd forgotten how fast things happen. I missed opportunites because I was still sorting things out from my last result. Online the software sorts things out for you, and you don't click Roll/Spin etc. again until you are ready.

2) Automatic accounting - Trying to keep track in my head how much I was ahead or behind turned out to be much tougher than I had anticipated. Inevitably I would lose count and end up guesstimating. Online all I have to do is look in the corner where it says "Balance" and I know exactly where I stand. I can also leave in the middle of a session if necessary and I know it will be there, just as I'd left it, when I login again.

3) Inconsistant/Rude dealers - Online, you always get paid the same way every time you play a game, in a BM casino, this isn't always the case. I actually got into an arguement with a Baccarat dealer over this. I was playing at a $15 table, betting minimum (ie 3 $5 chips) each hand. I was also trying very hard to keep track of how much I was ahead by placing my profit chips in a seperate stack. At first, when I won, the dealer would stack 3 $5 chips next to my bet and I would collect as normal. Well part way through, he switched up, taking my bet and replacing it with a $25 and a $5 chip. Not wanting to play my profits, I eventually ran out of $5 chips and started asking for change for the $25's, after a couple times he refused and yelled "play those!" pointing to my profit stack. I ended up losing count of where I was and left after my winning streak ended. To be fair, every other dealer I came in contact with was very professional.

From the point of view of playing slots, the ease of switching games and playing what you want to play. Where I'm living there are only maybe 5 casinos (and they're always stupid busy) in the whole city, so trying to get to play the machine/game that you want to play is a hassle. There's a lineup at all the popular games, and if there isn't a lineup there's some boogerhead hogging 2 or 3 machines and putting reserved signs up on 2 or 3 more.

P.S.

Thought of a couple more, and since I can't seem to edit anymore...

4) Cheat Sheets - Playing online allows you to use all the tips and tricks on sites like Wizard of Odds that ensure "perfect play" without having to either memorize them, or counting on the generousity of casino staff to let you use them at the tables.

5) Better Games/Odds - Not to many 9/6 JoB machines left in the BM world, and games like Pontoon and BlackJack Switch are i-gaming exclusives (I think).

Also its cheaper ... well especially if you have played at the only Casino in Copenehagen! Utter nitemare - heres to start before you place a bet :

85 kroner entry fee
men need a jacket (no jacket you have to hire one around 50 kroner)
drinks - massive price can be easily over 100 kroner per drink
They dont comp at all and i have spent 1000s their over the years.

Plus they have the Tronic i think its called where you have to tip the dealer
example you get a straight number of roulette and have say 25DK you have to give that chip to the dealer. If you dont it gets embarressing as they are trained to ask you each time. They never forget ;) and if you have max bet like I did 1 time 1000Kroner on 0 hit and it was then 2 chips I had to pay th dealer lol. 2000 DK tip! They dont get any wages just a cut of the Tronic.
Upside they are very very pro - know the games -always super polite and deal correctly but hell it costs like nothing on earth - oh and if you want to get drunk make sure you have a huge bank roll just for the drinks alone ;)

Oh and for those interested 10 danish kroner is approx $1.95 to $2.00 USD now you can do the maths yourself for the poor Scandanavian players
Oh and I forget to add if you withdraw cash at the Casino with a credit card they are huge fees that go with it not sure about 3 to 4% maybe higher I think and changing currency ... well all I can say is Ouch!

Online all the way for me now if / when ever im in Denmark anyhow!

What I like about Online Casinos is that I can play in my underwear... call the dealer any name I want and I don't end up in jail... :D

@DaveG39 - If a dealer ever treated me like that... I would call the Pit Boss and complain right in front of the rude dealer. The rude dealer would then be gone (or I would be) and the next dealer would almost certainly be much nicer...

Hiya: Since I live in Las Vegas, i get asked all the time why i play on-line.

1. I get to control the speed of the game. Roulette can be so SLOW in a real Casino...........

2. The spread between the betting limits is usually bigger. $1 min bet required, $500 max bet allowed on-line, vs $4 min required and $250 max allowed.

3. No other players to interfear with your play.

4. You can change games instantly, and NEVER have to wait because the table is full of other players.

5. All the games are there, and have better odds. When is the last time you saw 6/5 BJ on the internet?

and so on. Yea, you have to wait longer to get paid, but all the avove makes it worth it, imhop.

Good points. I don't low-ball like I used to, but, when I did, the low mins were a welcome sight (now I play bigger so QT fees don't become a major expense %-wise...one of the worst aspects of i-gaming). :(

When there's only one low-limit Baccarat table in a BM casino, you do appreciate the essentially infinate space online. :)

Playing online is cheaper for me too . I also like the games better . I have won more from online casinos than B&M anyday .

I know what you mean, but I realize now what I should've been doing, ie taking the $25 chips the dealer was giving me and puttung those in my profit stack and playing with the $5 ones. Still I obviously wasn't "getting it" at the time so the dealer could've explained it.

I love the video games and the fact that like lots0 , i can play in my nightie, undie's, whatever and when i dont get a feature , i can call it a non paying MoFo and not have to worry about being thrown out of my own home:D................A whole new meaning to Home Entertainment;)...........laurie:)

Why I like a land based casino better is because:
I don't have to wait for my money, see it sitting in pending for 48 hours tempting me to re-deposit.
Totally different environment than at home, which I am here 24-7, as you know caring for the mother in law. When I do get a chance to go to Apache Gold casino, I spend the day, have a nice lunch, get free soda or tea while I'm there. And can walk away at any time with my money in hand and not look back.
Sure I love the online casinos too, but for the most part anymore I feel like it's counter productive. My boredom can get the better of me and when I see my withdrawal still sitting there I am always tempted to replay it, usually do, and lose it.
I am finding lately it's more fun to visit this forum than to play online casinos and that in itself speaks to the fact that the stinginess pretty much takes the fun out of it. I see many people are saying the same things, how the play has changed or the amount of payouts and frequency of payouts have changed. So I am sure I am not the only one frustrated by giving my money away to online casinos and feeling a bit violated by the experience. Sure there are some good times to be had occasionally, but when it's getting to where it's very occasional, then that is where it feels counter productive for me.
It's like chasing lightning, eventually you may get hit, but more often you won't.
So give me that little bit of escape away from this computer, away from the mother in law and let me go to a world that is so alien to my everyday world, hear the sounds, see the people, some I even know and have a meal that I didn't have to cook and that is a good mini vacation for me.
I go maybe once or twice in 2-3 months time and usually always come out ahead or even, with online casinos, the fact is, that it's always there, I go to frequently and spend to much and rarely get anything back and I have to make my own lunch.

Lol, in Amsterdam there is only one serious casino, Holland Casino... I go there in the afternoon... strange thing is that since a long, long time, I won 7,000 euros last month, I still have to beat that when gambling online (playing slots only, don't care much for anything else).

In the first place, in my own home I'm still allowed to smoke when I play.
Second, I like the videoslots much more than the machines in land based casino's.
And I can shout at my screen, SCATTER, SCATTER!!:D:D
And I don't have to travel 50 miles to play, pay entrance fee, wear clothing I don't want to wear.

Dollar for Dollar I've found playing the slots online is far better that land based.

Here in Australia slots must be set to a minimum 87.1%. Even if I'm playing RTG and they're set to 92%, I'm still 4.9% ahead, the same goes for MGS.

All up I play online because:

  • I can smoke
  • Play in boxers
  • I get comped on all of my deposits
  • I regularly get free chips
  • Get nice birthday treats like free chips and cases of wine
  • Get Chrissy presents too
  • Don't have to carry a tub of coins
  • Don't have to shell out for over inflated drink prices
  • Save $25 on valet parking + extra $20 tip to park car near main casino entrance
  • Don't have to put up with smelly & or rude people
  • Don't have to worry about visiting the ATM that has a $1K limit per card

The down side...I can't perv or make small talk with pretty girls.

Cheers

Dave

How strange some land based casinos must be. Ours is 12 minutes away, free parking, no cover charges, free drinks, soda, water, coffee ect, brought around all day. I can smoke while playing, do get comps when I use the players club card and other perks. No dressing up, come pretty much as you are.
The tubs of coins are long gone, but my mother in law felt like she had a fortune in her little tub of nickels.
But yes, there are somtimes smelly people and we do have to keep our clothes on.

Why you tell people you play your nightie and undies now people are going to be looking in your window..:D:lolup:

i like online better than B&M mainly because i win more online. I get more fired up at B&Ms but their slots are definitely tighter than online casinos.

When I compare online to B&M casinos, Im sorry but online is nothing more then going to the corner and buying a lottery ticket. I understand all the perks online offers as mentioned in this thread. Smoking, speed of changing games, no traveling, no clothes, etc. etc. But I believe the people who think its better then live are from the recent generation that was brought up on video games.

Yes, I now predominantly play online, but not until I exhausted my desire to visit casinos, which took over twenty years to do. In addition Im much older, fatter, cheaper, and lazier then ever.

But when in my prime nothing was more exciting and entertaining then spending a weekend in Atlantic City. I live only 10 minutes from a small airport. We would leave the house 15 minutes before the flight to AC would take off. Land in AC after only 34 minutes in the air, limo waiting for us, and be in the casino within usually no more then an hour from leaving the front door. If driving it was 3 hours one way, and once getting out of New York usually a nice ride. In addition when driving I got to spend a great deal of one on one with my wife, with no distractions, (kids, phones, tv, etc.) catching up on small talk and serious matters. This also usually led to some of our most romantic times. Many times we would go with close friends, or close business associates that even led to a couple of good business deals in the future. Some times as many as 10 of us would meet there and have a ball.

5 star accommodations, 5 star restaurants, room service, free drinks, free smokes, shows of some of the greatest entertainers in the world who I never would have seen, let alone being able to see them close up, ringside for great fights. My wife got manicures, facials, shopped at some of the finest stores. We both would get massages, and go for a swim in the dead of winter. And yes it was all free, including the plane ride. Of course I realize nothing was technically for free. But if youre going to gamble why not get a bang for your buck. Speaking of bucks, when I did catch them, and trust me I had my good days, I went home with the cash in my pocket the same day.

Whatever shit hole casinos some of you posters are speaking of about your bad experiences with, I certainly dont know where they are or how you even found them.

If I wagered online as much as I did live what could I expect? Some ridiculous play through bonuses, or maybe $500 bucks for my birthday, so I could kill an hour in my underwear in front of a computer?

Online casinos and poker rooms came about at a pretty good time for me. Approaching my senior years, it was time for me to pull in the reins, and keep my families future, safe and secure. Now my only visits to casinos are usually for big poker tournaments.

I accept all the bullshit that comes with online gambling. Always wondering about the rigged accusations, hoping after finally making a strike that I dont get bribed tomorrow or the next day into a reversal while waiting for approval, and when finally approved hoping I do in fact eventually get paid, etc. etc. Why? Because if youre a gambler, youll probably die a gambler. What I do online is petty, and will never hurt my family. Its only fun for me because Im a gambler getting old running out of energy and will to maintain live play. Besides, when it actually comes down to online gambling, I certainly dont expect to be a winner in the long run, just like live play. I could care less one way or the other of my outcome online. Getting lucky a few years ago online and getting paid, Im actually still playing online with the houses money.

But when I read posts stating online blows away live play, I come to the conclusion that either your from the new generation that just dont know any better, or your living no where near the real thing.

Online all the way!

Land based casinos can be fun however I find them far too noisy and quite a lot of depressed people in them. Also I live in Florida and the local casinos (I have two in my town) do not give out free drinks the slot odds suck and there is always too many people so I never get to play on the machines I want. Also the security in the parking lot is not as good as it is in Vegas so I would not want to go there by myself for fear of getting mugged if I end up actually winning a couple of bucks. I have also been to Vegas and did enjoy the experience although I doubt I would go back anytime soon.

I prefer the online casinos because I can play them whenever I want and dont have to get dressed, get in my car and drive. There is never a line at the cashier at the online casinos. The other thing is that online offers better incentives to play for those of us who are poor. Deposit bonuses allow me to play for longer so I have more fun which is the whole point of playing in the first place.
When I want to have a fun evening I go to the store and get a six pack go home deposit and play. If I want a show I just turn on the TV. I get the Vegas experience for a whole lot less money! Also I am a little antisocial at the weekends since I have a very stressful and demanding job and do not want to deal with strangers when I am off.

Great thread! Some very interesting experiences and opinions.

One thing I really like about the land based casinos is the people watching and the ambiance. You can never replicate this online. My favorite is wandering the casinos in Vegas at around three in the morning. It's relatively quiet - yet populated by a myriad of players: foreigners, drunks, hookers, night owls, partiers, and jet lagged people like me....

Can you dig it?

It's all about convenience
But I rather go to Foxwoods or the Mohegan Sun for the day than spend the time in my house.
I get free drinks & if I want to eat all I have to do is ask the many I know at the casino.
I get great shows to go too & more.
My online gaming is my lazy way out if I don't want to take a drive for 45 min or an hour to gamble.

I think any true gambler if its in their means, should visit Vegas atleast once, i saw it all, even topless ice skaters:eek: and the hotel service was really top notch, just like online are those who scam folks, so one should be careful at a land based casino , just as we do online imo.........laurie

Meister, you and I are from the same school. While I love playing slots, I really enjoy watching the people late at night at a casino. Way back when Shreveport, LA got their boats the Isle of Capri, now DiamondJacks, had the only poker room. My late husband loved to play Texas Hold'em. I would play slots and then wander around. I would watch the hookers work the poker room and found it interesting in a strange sort of way.

Funniest thing I ever had happen was the night I saw Elvis. I was wandering around playing here and there, rounded a corner and low and behold, Elvis was playing the penny slots. Complete with white jumpsuit. I laughed so hard I almost had an accident. Now where else do you get such entertainment?

Besides LA. casinos give out free drinks, rooms, eats etc. I have on occasion just got a free room and spent the night and never spent more than $20. Depends on the mood I'm in.
