    Online all the way!

Land based casinos can be fun however I find them far too noisy and quite a lot of depressed people in them. Also I live in Florida and the local casinos (I have two in my town) do not give out free drinks the slot odds suck and there is always too many people so I never get to play on the machines I want. Also the security in the parking lot is not as good as it is in Vegas so I would not want to go there by myself for fear of getting mugged if I end up actually winning a couple of bucks. I have also been to Vegas and did enjoy the experience although I doubt I would go back anytime soon.

I prefer the online casinos because I can play them whenever I want and dont have to get dressed, get in my car and drive. There is never a line at the cashier at the online casinos. The other thing is that online offers better incentives to play for those of us who are poor. Deposit bonuses allow me to play for longer so I have more fun which is the whole point of playing in the first place.
When I want to have a fun evening I go to the store and get a six pack go home deposit and play. If I want a show I just turn on the TV. I get the Vegas experience for a whole lot less money! Also I am a little antisocial at the weekends since I have a very stressful and demanding job and do not want to deal with strangers when I am off.

Great thread! Some very interesting experiences and opinions.

One thing I really like about the land based casinos is the people watching and the ambiance. You can never replicate this online. My favorite is wandering the casinos in Vegas at around three in the morning. It's relatively quiet - yet populated by a myriad of players: foreigners, drunks, hookers, night owls, partiers, and jet lagged people like me....

    It's all about convenience
But I rather go to Foxwoods or the Mohegan Sun for the day than spend the time in my house.
I get free drinks & if I want to eat all I have to do is ask the many I know at the casino.
I get great shows to go too & more.
My online gaming is my lazy way out if I don't want to take a drive for 45 min or an hour to gamble.

I think any true gambler if its in their means, should visit Vegas atleast once, i saw it all, even topless ice skaters and the hotel service was really top notch, just like online are those who scam folks, so one should be careful at a land based casino , just as we do online imo.........laurie

Meister, you and I are from the same school. While I love playing slots, I really enjoy watching the people late at night at a casino. Way back when Shreveport, LA got their boats the Isle of Capri, now DiamondJacks, had the only poker room. My late husband loved to play Texas Hold'em. I would play slots and then wander around. I would watch the hookers work the poker room and found it interesting in a strange sort of way.

Funniest thing I ever had happen was the night I saw Elvis. I was wandering around playing here and there, rounded a corner and low and behold, Elvis was playing the penny slots. Complete with white jumpsuit. I laughed so hard I almost had an accident. Now where else do you get such entertainment?

Besides LA. casinos give out free drinks, rooms, eats etc. I have on occasion just got a free room and spent the night and never spent more than $20. Depends on the mood I'm in.

    Wink

The fact is there are good points to online and land based casinos, as well as the bad for both. However I cannot think of a bad experience I have had at our local land based, but then I don't go overboard there either.
    The draw back for me regarding online casinos is;
Like I stated before, it's always here, open and ready to take my money.
If I win and withdraw, my money sits there in pending staring at me for 48 plus hours, tempting me to re-deposit and play some more.
There are so many strings and drawbacks to bonuses such as wagering requirements. I rarely take a bonus when I deposit and still have to wait for an approval on a withdrawal, which I think this is ridiculous if there is no bonus involved.
The constant and consistant fact that they may have good days for some as far as payouts go, but for most of us, NOT! Just look at what people are saying about how things have tightened up, some at 75 deposits with zero return. Where seriously is the fun in that?
Not to mention having to give your personal financial information to these places just to get your money. Faxing and emailing this info to people we don't know and can only hope and trust our private information doesn't get in the wrong hands. Some of my personal financial info is also at casinos that are Rogue/Blacklisted as well, so I will always be worried about that fact.

At least with our land based casino, if I get bonuses from my players club card, there are no strings attached, no wagering requirements, just go and have fun with it. When I cashout, the money goes straight into my purse, no waiting for approvals or anything, just take it and go.
Yes I agree, the ambience is so much better than the same ol, same ol I have at home. I like the noise for a change and the people milling around and I have not seen depressed people at the land based, but then I don't go often either. We get a lot of seniors bused in from Pheonix and they are friendly and it's enjoyable talking to new people while playing. When I feel I have exhausted my time there I just get back in my car and 12 minutes later I'm back home and feel I have had a good day away from the computer, tv, mother in law, the daily routine that never changes.

I forgot to say this in my other post.
At Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun I do get $15.00 to $25.00 Free Slot Play each month per week and it comes with no crazy wr I have to meet. And the Wife gets the same as I do.
If you don't use it you lose it for that week.

I am heading out to Atlantic City this weekend with my husband and we are taking the train down. I am so excited. These are the new trains that only run on the weekends that go to Atlantic City.

Well of course, it's not, and that's why these casinos do not realize the revenue they could, because for example, while I like Rivals slots, they are too tight, and that spoils the fun, so they are at the bottom of my list, not a priority for my entertainment budget.
