I'm starting to think it's because my credit card is Visa, any thoughts on that?
It might be how the website is set up - normally you have to tell it what type of card you are using, as well as putting in the number. The Neteller card is neither a credit nor debit card, and some websites do not have such an option, or it is not clear.

I would of thought more members would have used the virtual card, and would be able to give some much needed input.
Given how Neteller repeatedly cock-up things, I am not surprised few have taken up this new card, especially as it is a "prison" once you have signed up.
If it doesn't work - you get charged a dormancy fee because you haven't used it. This is every month, so you have to keep on using it, even if this means buying stuff you might not want to buy, or from a retailer you didn't want to use, just to notch up that months use.
If you have had enough - they charge you an EXIT fee from the card.
Neteller have failed to research the market, no COMPETITOR, such as a bank debit card or bank issued credit card, has ANY of these problems.
1) The main networks have been running for decades, and work smoothly with point of sale and online validation methods.
2) A DEBIT card will NOT itself charge for withdrawing your money, but a private ATM might. With the Neteller card, you can even be double dipped, by paying BOTH the Neteller fee, AND the private ATM fee, for your withdrawal.
3) By paying £5, a Neteller customer can move their money to their bank, and take advantage of points 1) and 2) - so why go to all the trouble, and all the fees.

if the shop would ask for a copy of front/back of your card, they might not believe that i was using a virtual card.
Also shopping for a trips/vacations is a big no no with the card too, so what can you basically buy with this?

Shops don't - you are thinking of casinos
I considered this card, checked the terms and conditions, and operating procedure (as far as I could gather), THEN checked where I would want to use it, and found that very likely I COULD NOT!!
The main problem is that most UK facing online stores, and particularly places where you pay a recurring bill have something like this:-
"only xxxxxx cards issued by a UK bank are accepted" - which completely rules out the Neteller card, as it is issued not by a bank, but by some kind of "finance house" (Conister Trust - I think). In all likelihood, validation will fail because the first 4-6 numbers do not match up to a UK bank in the verification database.
It is a bit like trying to use an Electron debit card, MOST places do not accept them, either online or instore. The Neteller card MAY be of this same underclass, and thus fail to work at many places.
The ONLY places where the Neteller card should work fine are ATMs, but here there are all those fees. One could end up having to withdraw cash from an ATM in order to purchase the goods, but WITHOUT the economy of scale offered by the Neteller to bank move, where £5 covers even large amounts over several thousand.
