They are not only unclear, but sometimes just plain WRONG
Intercasino have shown tournaments ending at xx:xx BST - yet I have found they ACTUALLY ended at xx:xx GMT, an hour EARLY.
IF they get it right, BST is GMT+1, and applies between 2am on the last Sunday in March, through to 1am on the last Sunday in October. CET is Central European Time, which is GMT+2 in Summer, and GMT+1 in Winter, and used throughout the EU EXCEPT here in the UK, and maybe some of the new eastern European member states. I have also seen EST and EDT, both similarly mistaken for each other in casino promos, and as confusing for me as a Brit as BST might be for a Canadian or American.
GMT is the universally accepted standard, and it would be less confusing for all casinos to define events in terms of GMT, and players could use easily available utilities within windows, software, or even electronic clocks, to allow them to determine the validity period of that juicy bonus they have received in their email.
I have noticed that before UIGEA, most casinos used EST for their promos, since over 90% of players were American, and most of the population is towards the Eastern seaboard. I quickly learned this was GMT-5, and that midnight EST was 5am in winter, and 6am in summer, with the only problem being when casinos changed to EDT, which does NOT begin at the same times as here in the UK for BST.
