Question for Video Poker Experts

I was playing 100 hand Jacks or Better (full pay) in fun mode and was dealt a flush. It was also a gut-shot straight flush draw as the hand was 7, 9, 10, Q, K of clubs. Since it was for fun, I threw away the 7 and went for the straight flush (receiving 2 of them). It looks like I made only 1/3 as much as holding the flush would have paid on this hand. What is the mathematically correct play here?

Holding the flush is the clear favourite (the number of hands is irrelevant), it pays 6 times your bet, whereas the expectation of holding 4 to the inside straigh flush is only about 2.34 times your bet.

Usually playing 100 hands vp is a bad thing...they mess around with the pay tables most of the time and it raises your house edge,best to stick to regular 1 hand vp and do hold the flush ALWAYS lol it's about math forgot to mention,100 hand is mostly good for the double up feature

since you are pretty much 100% sure to get some kind of pay out

There is no reason why the paytables should be worse on 100-hand VP than on 1-hand VP. Scooter7 does mention that the game was full pay.

The pay table was the same for all different #'s of hands, although I can see the logic in giving the best paytable on the higher number of hands. If I was the casino, I would give people incentive to play more hands instead of the other way around.

You should check out Vpgenius site. There you can compare all different plays for any hand with any paytable.

BTW, you should discard the pat flush if you have four to a royal (for example 7c 10c Jc Qc Kc).
