    High Roller question to all

    Hi all

I show as a 'newbie' but have been reading these excellent forums for a while now...anyway...

In your opinion, how much would one have to deposit at an online casino to be considered (in the Casinos eyes) as a 'high roller'? I understand it's probably different at different casinos, but I'm looking for either a ball-park figure or, better still, a minimum amount that would have to be deposited to be given the 'high roller' tag.

    Thanks for your opinions.

    PH

    PS - I'm not a high-roller myself...far from it in fact

pmhcfc, it's not only about the amount of deposits but also about the number of times you turn that money over too, as in playthru...

I think the best way to know is to contact the casino in question either through email or on the phone I am sure each casino has different standards and also depends on the game in question...
I know this is not the answer you were expecting

Yeah, I understand that..But I was wondering if there was a 'ball-park' figure. I mean, If I deposited, say $25k in a 6 month period, would there be a likelyhood I'd get a 'high roller' tag or is $25k too small a figure to warrant that said tag?

$25K is a good start if you also turn it over a few times too in that same time period..

The 'high roller' tag is worthless if the benefits that come with it are mediocre. If you deposit $25K within a 6-month period with some decent playthrough I would expect them to reward you with some perks especially when the number of whales are diminishing due to the poor economy.

Actually, many casinos classify players into different VIP Levels eg Platinum, Gold .... and there are reward programs attached. Some casinos are explicit on how you can reach these VIP levels but even if they arent you can always ask and I think they will give you pointers on how to achieve your desired status.

A good casino will be clear on what they expect from people to be able to get the best perks. Don't think it necessarily depends on amount deposited, although this shows an intention to play with your own money which is good. Wagering is the main one, people who are happy to take the swings and continue playing, waiting for the big win

The casino can only win as much as you deposit, so I have to think that they base a lot of their decisions on deposit amounts although if someone is also a big poker player then the deposits may not be a perfect reflection.

If the casino combines your deposit tendencies with your total wagering, it gives a pretty good idea of how much you should be 'worth' to them.

VIP or not VIP also depends on how much money the casino has to spend on you to get you to play and deposit more, how likely you are to increase your play if they give you special offers, and what the value of their other high value players is. A small operator may target people who deposit over 1,000 as VIP's, but a bigger operation may use 5,000 or 10,000 deposits as their threshold value.

    Scooter,

Thanks for this, and to other posters...

So the second part of my question is this....

Let's go with the middle ground and assume depositing £4,000 gets you to be a VIP...

Would you, as a VIP who can afford to deposit (and play through) £4,000 a month, pay and play in a torny for 3 (possibly more) hours if the prize for winning it was £30? What do you think?
