If I can afford to lose 4k per month (which I can't), 30 quid is a useless amount of money to me for anything other than lunch

So the second part of my question is this....

Let's go with the middle ground and assume depositing £4,000 gets you to be a VIP...

Would you, as a VIP who can afford to deposit (and play through) £4,000 a month, pay and play in a torny for 3 (possibly more) hours if the prize for winning it was £30? What do you think?
What do you think?? being able to afford to lose £4k a month and playing a 3 hr tourney for £30 you daft or what

    THanks Alex, and Scooter...

    Yeah..That's exactly what I thought....

If nothing else it proves my own point about something I'm 'discussing' with a Casino manager and this casino's torny's...As and when I've got the required posts and points here (shouldn't be too long), I will explain all in a 'complaint' posting about this Casino...

    I appreciate your input guys

    Why bother?

While one casino might think you unfit for anything like VIP status, others would welcome you.

I am sure it is the degree of risk you show with your funds, not the amount deposited and played through. For example, Ladbrokes have that £10 min bet stipulation for Blackjack. Without this, it would be easy to deposit 7500, play it through 3x on Autoplay at low stakes, and then withdraw.
This is where the rules about "manager's discresion" come in. They are there to weed out players who are using a mathematical ploy to get VIP status.

$25K per month, played through a few times, would easily be enough to reach VIP status at quite a few casinos, however, many also have a time stipulation, and this could be up to one year.

I have made VIP at quite a few casinos, some where levels are specified by requirements, and others where it is more down to invitation. Making VIP status does not necessarily mean you get the advertised benefits though. I made Gold, and near Platinum at Fortune Lounge and Roxy group, yet was STRIPPED of my benefits, getting nothing at all. The ONLY reason was that I deposited big, risked big, but WON BIG too £5000 was enough for Roxy group, I was deemed far too "lucky"
Not sure about Fortune Lounge though, they advertised a new "improved" loyalty scheme, but the regular 30% deposit bonuses under the old scheme were replaced by, well, sweet FA. I quickly cut back on deposits, and moved elsewhere, and got VIP there, and better benefits.

Maybe the casino that refuses to make you VIP even for $25K per month, and spending 3 hours for £30, believes you are out to "work the VIP programme" by making VIP & then letting rip with "advantage play". Maybe you simply did not LOSE enough, you played too cleverly for them to believe they can make more from you by offering you VIP benefits.

Those cases where I was dumped from VIP scheme benefits after a big win probably show what the TRUE reasoning is behind all these VIP promises. It has bugger all to do with loyalty, deposits, or playthrough - it is all about whether you are mug enough to lose on a grander scale if they make you up to VIP.

Persistently complaining to a particular casino about not making VIP has the reverse effect to that intended, they are progressively LESS likely to make you VIP, not more.

Best policy is ask about it, forget about it after their rebuttal, and wait for their "retention team" to notice your deposits have plummeted from several K to near zero - THEY will be in touch with YOU if you EVER had any chance of making VIP there in the longer term. Most casinos use software to track such behaviour, and flag accounts not just for negative reasons, but because a substantial player seems to have more or less stopped playing overnight. What worries them then is that you have been poached by another casino, and offered something better.

In general, if a high roller wanted the ass-kissing experience, I'd recommend brick and mortar casinos.
