Well Nifty, the main problem with ROUGED Casinos is that they use Maybeline and the others use Covergirl...

When I saw the thread title, I thought you were talking why many casinos have the word "Red" in their name. Thinking about it, there are a good number of them -- 32 Red, Cherry Red, Red Bet, Red Flush, Red Kings, Red Hot Roulette, Red Lounge, Red Star, Vegas Red, etc. In contrast, I can only think of one casino with the word "Black" in it's name (the word "black", not "blackjack").

To actually answer your question here Nifty, this is from the Meister's Rogue Page...

"Rogue": an unprincipled person, a scoundrel, a rascal, an undesirable deviation from a standard.

The Rogue Casino list is a bit more serious than simply not being recommended. Most of these casinos are guilty of gross customer negligence bordering on the criminal. Some of these casinos have disappeared leaving their players empty handed and downright disgusted with the industry as a whole.

Nifty , in case you were serious , and am assuming you can get to forum without going to main page..... click on main page at top left here in second box
    at top
Once on the Main Page , look to left and click the link Rogue Casinos

There you will find ample reasons why some casinos are "rogued" In other words most might be a bunch of" crooks " What do you call "crooks" down under? best of Luck

    Rouge...it replaces blushing

Nifty, you have been around for years. But not so bad you brought this up for folks that haven't.

English is my first language, but the difference between "Rogued" and "rouged" is more than just that...typos happen, and the connotation that a "rogue" comes from being guilty or, "redfaced", same roots as "rouge" from latin and then french apply.

And given the nature of the English language trained brain, we see words "correctly" even when there is a spelling error.

I strive to use correct language, and I believe that words are power. But nitpicking is not helpful for anyone involved.

So, in summary, play at "rouge" casinos, but not "rogue".

OK....I confess...I was being a smarta*se about the whole rogue/rouge confusion thing as I see it all the time. It really was just an attempt at lightheartedness and not at all meant to upset any one

However, I agree its not such a bad thing to highlight the topic from time to time for those who have just joined us, and I like Jasmine's background description about the words themselves....great sleuth work and quite interesting

Now back to loosing my money....

I agree Aka! I thought the same thing, and I'm still wondering why so many casinos use "Red" in their names. There's alot of them. I'm a bit peeved over this because my favorite color is blue and I don't see any casino giving props to it. I think that every casino with the word "Red" in their name should be put in the "Rogue Pile" until they put away their "racist" agendas and publicly acknowledge that all colors are created equal and ALL deserve the same treatment from online casinos, be it good or bad.

I'd better stop before I blow a gasket! Damn!..and I thought it was gonna be a GOOD day!!
