    Customer Service : bb28 v Infopowa

Regarding Thread : Attn: Customer Service and Managers

    http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/...-managers.html

Forums? Who ultimately owns the original content posted on it? I would say the forum owner, in this case, Casinomeister.

As a non profit post, I think BB has a right to feel upset if the post is being used for publicity and monetary gain without automatically adding the credit.

It seems that the content was poorly rewritten as it is a clearly defined copy.

My resolution would be to keep the meisters link & accredit it to BB. Send a few online casino credits BB's way for taking the time out to post something that was deemed newsworthy.

It Covers the annoyance of being copied. It compensates for the fact that someone else has been paid for the time BB put in (Re-shift the payment).

Its a pretty IRONIC post to argue over

    - Attn: Customer Service and Managers

My resolution : Pay BB the price you spent on the article, Effort & Misunderstanding. Then kiss & make up. XXX

You might even end up with a bonus, viral marketing.

First, GREAT post bb. Second, I am disappointed in the derailing of the post - an issue resolved by CM in splitting the thread.

But I guess I look at posting differently. Hoping not to sound sarcastic in any way, I assume if I post on a public forum that the post can theoretically be seen by all. Hence I think only the forum site owner has a right to be offended if someone uses recycles the info without permission (as is clearly stated in the CM forum rules). Imagine if posting every story, joke and personal experience required a reference to the original author. I hope these thoughts does not appear to override my first, and most important, sentence above.

    Compensate BB great idea.
If it was an affiliate that stole something from someone they would lose the rights to promote that bingo/casino or any type of gaming.

no offence here to bb28 as i think its the best post ive ever read but.....
we sign up here for free,we post here for free..
i assumed once something is posted on this forum it belongs to bryan..and vice versa he has to delete posts, edit posts remove links e.t.c
if anyone should get anything it should be bryan then perhaps bryan could somehow offer bb28 something?
that was my thinking of the whole forum thing anyway?

    just my 2 cents

Well if things were copied completely which it looks like it then I would assume that the material is public but it does have an owner or a source, much like in a book. For infopowa to use this as if it was their own probably wasn't a great idea if this is indeed true. If bb28 isn't paid for it then infopowa will lose a reputation and would cost more than whatever the article would typically cost.

Yes, the reason I posted the survey was not for a right or wrong answer. It's the furums copyrights that has been infringed.

Most writers collect and print articles based on statements from forums, that is nothing new. In this case a lot of the idea was taken word for word, which is pretty lazy.

BB was writing for free & the article was posted out to boost a sites rep. She would have appreciated a little thank you at the bottom of the post, not as in InfoPowas who claimed it as their own.

I dont think in general forum members should get paid for posting but in this case I think it merits a little thank you bonus for doing a sneaky and trying to claim it as original work.

bb deserves something indeed if money has been made from her post!!
but if there is any compensation or money it should go to brian as its his forum and his copyright.......then perhaps brian could offer bb some compensation...just the fairest and honest way IMHO

People post in public forums every day, once this is done it is public information unless otherwise noted. There was no copy right attached with the post so "ownership" was not intended in the first place by the poster. Until after the post was altered and being used by others.

Now it does clearly state here in the terms of the casinomiester forum that he owns all copyrights to all post made at the casinomeister forum. The ownership to any copyrights are his and to deal with infopowa or anyone else as he sees needs to be with the copyrighted material.

BB28 is the original poster and did point out some very good points that need to be addressed by online casinos in general. But once again casinomeister forum still owns the copyrights and if any credit for the post would be given this would be his choice .

Edit: Forgot to mention there should be a choice in the poll that says, Casinomeister should decide.

Public posting or not, nobody should have the right to take someone's writing, change a few words around and claim it as their own.

Having said that, I don't think that any $ should change hands, but the original author should be given credit wherever it's posted.

What makes things worse is the fact that people are using this article for commercial (ie: Making money for them) purposes.
Operators: If you don't know what Transparency means, then here you go.....now how about practicing it?

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...

I think that there's a reasonable expectation that if you write something, then other people won't claim it as their own.

I get that other casino sites are desperate for content, but jeez - haven't you ever heard of plagiarism?! I haven't been following the whole thing carefully enough, but seriously, if someone took my writing and posted it all over the place without so much as mentioning my name, I'd be pretty annoyed.

So yeah, Infopowa used bb28's thread to make money for themselves. They can cut bb28 in, and give credit where it's due.

    Just my $0.02
